William Gallagher

William Owen Gallagher, 53, of Philadelphia, PA, was called home to be reunited with his family on May 21, 2024, following extensive periods of illness and hospitalizations. "Billy" has found eternal peace alongside his devoted father William J Gallagher, Jr (1996) His dear sister Katherine (2014), and his loving mother, Dolores (2019). After the passing of his mother Dolores, Billy's physical condition required a higher level of care and so began a new life at Majestic Oaks Rehab. It was here that Billy made new friends, a new life, and was loved by all the Majestic staff. He enjoyed his bingo days, watching and discussing Eagles, Flyers & Phillies, collecting baseball cards, watching movies, and enjoying the companionship of his adopted family - all of whom will miss him dearly. Billy was never far removed from family, which included his niece, Mary Kate Gallagher, and cousin, Frank Maier who were both by Billy's side throughout his illness, and during his final days. Billy is also survived by many cousins from across the country which includes the Gallagher, Sciolla, and Maier families. Billy was often challenged by illness and adversity throughout his adult life. From the brain tumor in his late teens, through the blindness, and the loss of his father, his sister, his mother, and his home, Billy never gave up, nor wallowed in self-pity. He was determined to somehow salvage a new life from the hand he was dealt. However, God had the final say and He has spoken. William's work here is now complete and he has earned his rest. We can find comfort in knowing that the Lord has received him and will lead him back into the warm embrace of the family that eagerly awaits him.
Funeral arrangements for William will be provided by McCafferty Funeral & Cremation, 6711 Frankford Ave, Philadelphia, PA 19135. Services will be limited and private. Memorial details will be provided to his extended family and relatives.
