Direct Cremation
When no viewing or services are desired, Direct Cremation Service is the best option. Low-cost cremations in the city of Philadelphia and surrounding counties are becoming quite common. This affordable service consists of the remains being removed from the institution of death (hospital or medical examiner), cremation at our onsite crematory (THE ONLY FUNERAL HOME IN PHILADELPHIA WITH A CREMATORY ONSITE), and cremated remains being returned to the survivors. This is the most simple and economical form of final services. Our Staff will guide you through the process, answer any questions that you have, and make any changes if so desired.
Nursing homes, hospice facilities, and residential deaths would require additional fees.
Cremation with Memorial Service
$3,225
This option is for those who want a cremation with visitation and services, but no embalming. The same options that are available for a Memorial Service are also available with a Viewing and Cremation. The only difference is, the family has the option to bury the cremated remains in a cemetery after the service or mass. The cremated remains could also be taken home by the family as well. If a loved one has stated that “I don’t want a viewing”, but the family wants to have a service, a Memorial Service would be the best option. It allows people to pay respects to the deceased and be with the survivors, yet keep with the last wishes of the departed. Our funeral home has an onsite crematorium, which is the only one of its kind in the city of Philadelphia. If the family wants a low-cost memorial service after cremation in Philadelphia or surrounding counties, our staff can accommodate your needs. We will provide a two-hour visitation in our funeral home, followed by a service (Mon-Fri, daytime hours). We will print standard memorial cards in honor of the decedent and also provide a register book for attendees to sign. We will publish a digital obituary listing survivors and service times and location. We also file the death certificate with the state of Pennsylvania and obtain copies that shall be required to handle all affairs. This service is considered inexpensive and cheap financially compared to traditional burial. You can be confident that all services that McCafferty Funeral & Cremation provides are professional and beautiful.
As with all services, a Memorial Service may be held in a facility or a church (additional fees apply) and our staff will travel anywhere to accommodate your needs. Nursing homes, hospice facilities, and residential deaths would require additional fees.
Viewing and Cremation
This type of cremation service is the only way that the body could be present for viewing. For this service, our staff will transfer the decedent from the local institution of death (hospital or Medical Examiner), have the embalming performed, provide the rental casket, provide standard memorial cards, a register book for attendees to sign, publish a digital obituary, file the death certificate with the state of Pennsylvania and obtain copies for the survivors. Typically the viewing takes place for 1-2 hours in the funeral home (Mon-Fri, daytime hours) where 3-4 of our staff members will be present. After the viewing, a religious or contemporary service would follow with words of remembrance. Music may be played during the viewing and service as well. After services, instead of going to the cemetery, our staff would take the remains to our on-site crematory for the cremation. Viewing and Cremation is a low-cost service alternative to traditional burial because there is no casket purchase and the cemetery expenses are either much lower or not applicable. After services, the family typically would gather for lunch at someone’s home or a catering hall. The cremated remains are returned to the family 1-2 days later after the cremation has been performed at our on-site crematorium. If the family has a plot in a cemetery, the urn may be buried there or it can simply be taken home. Sea scattering services are also available at an additional cost. McCafferty Funeral & Cremation Inc. has an urn selection room and catalogs for urn choices. Our staff will explain the differences between all our products and answer any questions you may have.
As with all services, a Viewing and Cremation service may be held in a facility or a church (additional fees apply) and our staff will travel anywhere to accommodate your needs.
Nursing homes, hospice facilities, residential deaths, preparation of autopsies, or donation remains would require additional fees.
