Cremation has become more popular in our culture over the last several years. There are a few reasons for this growth. Some people are of the opinion that it is simpler and less stressful on the survivors. While funeral planning with cremation can be simple, the truth of the matter is that it provides more choices and options than traditional burial. Low cost cremations are becoming more common in our society today. There are many ways to memorialize someone who is cremated before or after the cremation takes place. Another reason is that cremation is a cheap funeral option in the city of Philadelphia and surrounding counties rather than a burial service. Here are the service options that are available and pricing:
When no viewing or services are desired, Direct Cremation is the best option. Low cost cremations in the city of Philadelphia and surrounding counties are becoming quite common. This service consists of the remains being removed from the institution of death (hospital or medical examiner), cremation at our onsite crematory (THE ONLY FUNERAL HOME IN PHILADELPHIA WITH A CREMATORY ONSITE) and cremated remains being returned to the survivors. This is the most simple and economical form of final services. Our Staff will guide you through the process and answer any questions that you have and make any changes if so desired.
Cremation with Memorial Service
This option is for those that want a cremation with a visitation and services, but no embalming. The same options are available for Memorial Service as are with Viewing and Cremation. The only difference is that the family has the option to bury the cremains in a cemetery after the service or mass. The cremains could also be taken home by the family as well. If a loved one has stated that “I don’t want a viewing”, but the family wants to do something, Memorial Service would be the best option. It allows people to pay respects to the deceased and be with the survivors, yet keep with the last wishes of the deceased. If the family wants a low cost memorial service after cremation in Philadelphia or surrounding counties, our staff can accommodate your needs.
Viewing and Cremation
This type of cremation service is the only way that the body could be present. Typically the viewing takes place for 1-2 hrs either in the funeral home, a church or nursing home. After the viewing, a religious or contemporary service would follow with words of remembrance. If the viewing is being held in a church, the mass or service would follow. Music may be played during the viewing and service as well. After services, instead of going to the cemetery, our staff would take the remains to our on-site crematory for the cremation. After services the family typically would gather for a lunch at someone’s home or a catering hall. The cremated remains are returned to the family 2-3 days later. If the family has a plot in a cemetery, the urn may be buried there or it can simply be taken home. Sea scattering services are also available. McCafferty Funeral & Cremation Inc. has an urn selection room and catalogs for urn choices. Our staff will explain the differences between all products that we offer and answer any questions that you may have.
