Our History
McCafferty Funeral & Cremation Inc. opened up in Dec 1970 at the current location, 6711 Frankford Ave. James A. McCafferty, Sr and his wife Margaret Mary (nee Dinan) saw a need for a compassionate funeral provider in the Mayfair area. Both James and Margaret come from a family of third-generation funeral directors, with Margaret growing up in a funeral home in Center City (Dinan Funeral Home). James passed away in March of 1992 and Margaret passed away in May of 2011.
Mark McCafferty, and his wife, Lisa McCafferty, are now the hands-on owners of McCafferty Funeral & Cremation Inc. Lisa manages the many details of the office daily. Mark and his daughter Koryn are certain to be present during all services and handle all of the funeral arrangement conferences.
Proudly, in 2019, their daughter, Koryn McCafferty became a licensed funeral director. Koryn now represents the 5th generation of licensed McCafferty Family Funeral Service Providers, proudly serving the city of brotherly love.
In May of 2018, McCafferty Funeral & Cremation Inc. opened a crematory on the premises of 6711 Frankford Ave. Many years in the making, our crematory ownership represents the only funeral home in Philadelphia with a crematory on-site.
