My best friend that became a sister by choice …. It started in 5th grade she lived next to my Nanny we did not speak when we saw each other we would actually look at each other mean until one day one of us was playing Backstreet Boys outside, we looked at each other and she said “you like them too?” And that was that. We were opposites she was the one who stood up for herself didn’t think twice to say what she was thinking and tell you the truth, with love of course. I was quiet and didn’t take chances and she would encourage me. Life brought us through Graduating middle school her Quinceanera, my sweet 16 , BSB concert and MTV. After high school She went to school to become a medical assistant which inspired me to persue it to. We stayed connected through life without social media and that took EFFORT! Moving from Linden st, to Albany wrote letters back. And forth while she was in the army to Philadelphia, to Meeting her husband, saying I do, our baby showers, Welcoming her son, welcoming my kids the birthday parties, holidays, losing loved ones and officially becoming her sister. She was a big part of My life I grew up with a small family and hers made up for it! Saying My heart is heavy feels like an understatement because my heart is hurting for more than myself it’s hurting for her Husband and son who spent everyday with her and feel a void, a mother who should never have to bury her child, the Grandmother who helped raise Yamilette, a sister who needs her big sister the brothers who would protect her from anything , the cousins who were more like siblings, the nieces and nephews that she met and ones who may come after I cant forget her husbands family for them they may not have been sure what to expect yet as they grew to know Yamilette she was loved and appreciated ! …… she still had so much more to accomplish in this life yet God needed her sooner than any of us could have ever imagined. She was deeply loved and I know there will be an emptiness in all of us………. May the lord embrace you! Forever 40! I love you Yamilette and I’m sorry we never got to go the Catalina wine mixer!
