Thomas J. Murphy, Jr.

Thomas Joseph Murphy Jr., of Philadelphia, passed away peacefully on October 10th.

He was the beloved husband of Anita Murphy (née Bardsley), and a devoted father to Thomas M. Murphy (Robin), Lisa Martin, and Andrea Ischinger (William). He was cherished as “Pop” by his grandchildren: John (Alexis), Alexander, Abigail, Madeline, and Erin.

Thomas was a proud brother to the late Lorraine Reeves and her late husband Henry, and to Patrick Murphy (Linda). He is also fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews.

A proud U.S. Marine, Thomas carried his service with honor throughout his life. He was an avid golfer, a loyal Phillies and Eagles fan, and above all, he treasured time spent with his family. All are invited to attend Thomas’ memorial gathering and funeral on Friday October 17th, in St. Anselm’s RC Church (12670 Dunks Ferry Rd. Phila.,) You may visit and comfort the family from 10:00am – 11:00am in the church. There will be a funeral mass starting at 11:00am. Further arrangements will be held at the convenience of the family.  

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made in Thomas’s memory to support Rett Syndrome, a cause that held special meaning for him.
