Carmen P. Pirritano

Carmen P. Pirritano, of the Rhawnhurst section of Philadelphia, passed away on August 27, 2024, at age 94. Beloved Husband of the late Catherine Pirritano. Loving Father of Carmen Pirritano, Jr. (Susan), Stephen Pirritano (Diana), Kenneth Pirritano (Andrea), and the late Joseph Pirritano. Devoted grandfather of Andrew, Alec, Gianna, Marissa, Connor, and the late Stephen. Brother of Marie Urbanski and John Pirritano and the late Anthony Pirritano, James Pirritano, Jennie Calabria, and Anna Pirritano. Also survived by many loving, nieces and nephews.

He was a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps (1948-1952), a retired member of The International Brotherhood of Teamsters, Local 107, and founder of C&G Auto Repair, a now 2nd generation family business.

Family and friends are invited to attend his viewing and funeral on Monday, September 9th, 2024, from 9:30 am - 10:30 am in Resurrection of Our Lord RC Church, (Castor & Shelmire Aves). There will be a funeral mass at 10:30 am with burial to follow in Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Carmen’s memory to the Stephen J. Hiram A. Cartagena

Hiram A. Cartagena, of North Philadelphia, sadly passed away on August 26, 2024, at 42. Loving son of Zoraida and Jose Cartagena. Beloved brother of Angel Cartagena. Cherished uncle of Emily. He is also survived by many cousins, uncles, aunts, and extended family members. All are invited to Hiram's viewing and funeral on Wednesday, September 4th at McCafferty Funeral & Cremation Inc. 6711 Frankford Ave. Phila., PA 19135 (between Unruh & Knorr Sts.) from 9:00 am- 10:30 am. There will be a prayer service in the funeral home at 10:30 am. Burial to follow in Magnolia Cemetery.

Charles E. Gaus

Charles E. Gaus July 10, 1931- August 23, 2024. Charles E. Gaus of Philadelphia (recently of Mt. Laurel, New Jersey) died peacefully on August 23, 2024, after a brief illness. He is survived by his son Charles E. (Skip) Gaus Jr. (Kate Ward-Gaus) and daughter Patricia Adams (predeceased by Daniel). Loving Poppop to Christopher (Christa) Gaus, Kathleen (Daniel) Sullivan and Jennifer Gaus. GGPop to great - grandsons, Hunter Gaus and Connor Sullivan. Uncle to multiple nieces and nephews from the Gaus and Moell/Smyth families. Predeceased by his wife Elizabeth (Moell), brothers Thomas, James, Henry, William and Joseph and his parents Henry and Anna Connelly. Charles served over 42 years with the U.S. Government both in military service in the US Air Force stationed in Texas and overseas from which he was honorably discharged in September of 1953 as a Staff Sargent and at the Philadelphia Naval Ship Yard. His career in the Navy Yard included Ship Fitting in Shop 11 and several positions within the Nondestructive Test Division. Before moving to New Jersey in 2016, Charles lived most of his life in the shadow of the Market Frankford line in Fishtown and Northern Liberties. Relatives and friends are invited to his visitation and funeral on Saturday, September 7th from 9:30 – 11:00 AM at St. Timothy’s Church , 3001 Levick St, Philadelphia, PA 19149. A funeral mass will follow at 11:00AM. Interment will be held in private at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Charles’ name to: La Salle Academy (La Salle Academy is an independent Catholic grade school owned by a committed Board of Trustees and conducted in the traditions of the Christian Brothers and the Sisters of Saint Joseph located on the property of the former St. Michael’s School where Charles E. Gaus went to grade school) 1434 N. 2nd Street Philadelphia, PA 19122 or your favorite charity.

Luigi DeCicco

Luigi DeCicco, of Philadelphia, PA, born in Italy, passed away peacefully on August 26, 2024, at the age of 85. Devoted husband of Caroline (nee Callipari), loving father of Joseph (Cara) and Rocco (Natasa), and cherished Nonno of Elliana, Luca and Nicola (Nico). He was loved by so many for his sense of humor and kindness, and had a large group of family and friends who took great pleasure in his many stories and words of wisdom. He was an expert tailor, an avid music lover/musician, and loved the Ventnor, NJ beach as well as the Atlantic City casinos. But above all, his love for his family was the source of his greatest joy. All are invited to Luigi’s visitation and funeral mass on Thursday, September 5th at St. Eleanor’s Catholic Church on 647 Locust Street in Collegeville, PA 19426 from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM. A funeral mass will follow at 11:30 AM. Further burial arrangements will be held privately with his family. In lieu of flowers, mass cards are preferred or kindly consider donations in Luigi’s memory to St. Eleanor’s Catholic Church.
