Vincent Michael Newell

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Vincent Michael Newell, age 72,  on May 3, 2026.

A longtime resident of Port Richmond, Vincent spent the majority of his life in the neighborhood he called home. He was the beloved husband of Frances Newell, the devoted father of Vincent Newell, and a dear stepfather to Ethan Haak and Trevor Stepnowski. He is survived by his brothers, Kevin and Ray Newell. He was predeceased by his parents, Mary and Vincent, his brother Timmy, and his sister Joann.

Vincent was deeply loved by his many grandchildren, who brought him great joy. He found happiness in life’s simple pleasures, including hiking, throwing a frisbee, long rides, walks on the beach, and thrifting. He especially cherished the time spent at home with his family. One of the greatest joys of his life was his commitment to his Narcotics Anonymous (NA) family; the guiding principle “Just for today” remained close to his heart throughout his journey. Vincent will be remembered for his profound love for his family and the lasting impact he had on all who knew him.

His memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved him.

A great man but also an odd duck. If napping was an Olympic sport Vince would’ve brought back Gold to the USA. The man never tried a hoagie but loved peanut butter and sugar sandwiches. Vince called me one day excited because he found a bunch of old bottle caps. His Canadian tuxes and pizza socks were his kind of wardrobe and so much more. He was also my best friend and mentor. He believed in me and inspired me to be someone I never thought I’d be, and not just me so many others. He loved his wife, family, and especially his grandkids so much and I know because that’s all he talk about. My thoughts and prayers are with the family and there will be a void in my life for awhile. He made a mark on this earth and if I’m half the man Vince was that means I’m doing really good. Love you my brother now and forever

Vince, what you brought to our families lives can never be expressed. The happiness and memories you created with them means so much. The lessons you gave. You helped fill the voids that I left. I can never thank you enough for that. God speed, rest easy, your watch is over.

  1. Words can never express the gratitude I have for what you brought to my life. You brought out a side of my mom I never got to see growing up. You accepted all of us as your own and our kids were truly your grand babies as well. I’ll miss you Vince we love you. I hope there’s a burnt hot dog and some Johnny Hots waiting for you.

  2. Words cannot even begin to express how much you are going to be missed. You have been such a huge part of our lives for over 15 years now and the gratitude I have that God brought u to us goes so deep. You have been such an amazing friend and a huge part in Walts recovery. You watched my son grow up from literally the day I found out he was coming. It hurts my heart to picture life without you but I take small comfort in knowing you are free. We love u so much and we will miss you always! Rest in Peace Vince, until we meet again. ❤️💔
