Steven Clark

Steven “Stevie” Clark passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of his family.

Born and raised in Kensington Philadelphia, a proud “Kenzo,” Steve was known for his larger than life personality, witty humor, and ability to make people smile. He had a gift for making others feel comfortable, and whether through a joke, a story, or a simple conversation, he left a lasting impression on everyone he met.

A lifelong athlete, Steve excelled in every sport he played and was especially known throughout his community for his softball talent. Long after his playing days, people still spoke of him as one of the best ballplayers the neighborhood had ever seen. He shared his love of the game by coaching and encouraging young athletes, including his daughter, Samantha, whom he proudly coached for many years.

Later in life, Steve developed a passion for golf and quickly found success, winning multiple club championships while enjoying countless hours at Pennsauken Country Club. He was also a devoted Philadelphia sports fan, especially the Flyers, and rarely missed an opportunity to cheer on his favorite teams including Penn State football. “WE ARE!”

From a very young boy, Steve knew he wanted to be a truck driver. He dedicated 33 years of service to New Penn, where he earned the prestigious Million Mile Safe Driver Award, an accomplishment of which he was immensely proud. Known for his remarkable sense of direction, family and friends often joked that he was “Google Maps before Google Maps existed,” always knowing the best route to get wherever you needed to go.

Above all else, Steve loved his family. He was a proud father and grandfather whose greatest joy came from the people he loved. He will be remembered for his humor, loyalty, determination, generosity, and the countless memories he created with family and friends.

Steve was preceded in death by his mother, Laura Moyer; his father, John Clark; his brother, Jay Clark; and his grandmother, Laura Froggett.

He is survived by his daughter, Samantha Sapp (Aaron), his sons Brett (Molly) and Steve; his beloved grandchildren, Steven Clark and Monroe Sapp, his siblings, Ricky (Pat), Andy (Michelle), Brian (Darlene), and Lisa, along with many extended family members and dear friends.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing and Funeral at McCafferty Funeral & Cremation Inc., 6711 Frankford Ave. Philadelphia, on Thursday, August 6th, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., followed by funeral services beginning at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Park View Cemetery in Medford, New Jersey.

Steve’s family finds comfort in knowing that the laughter, kindness, and love he shared throughout his life will continue to live on in the many people fortunate enough to have known him.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. For more than 30 years, Steve was a devoted supporter of St. Jude’s mission. A contribution in his memory would be a meaningful way to honor the compassion and generosity that defined his life.
