Rusling Slawter
Rusling Slawter passed away peacefully, at Immaculate Mary Nursing Home in Philadelphia, at the age of 86.
Russ was proud to serve with the Philadelphia Police Department, Class of 228, beginning in October 2nd, 1972. He served his entire career with the 25th District until November 28, 1987 when he retired.
He is survived by his children, Donna Slawter, Kim Slawter (Brandon Famous), Rusling A. Slawter III (Joann Dougherty), George Slawter and a sister, Patricia, (John Quinn, Jr.). Also survived by 11 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, his Godson, John Quinn III and many family and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Rusling Vernon Slawter Sr. and Frances (nee Brown) and sister, Frances Tournier (nee Slawter). Also his former spouses Dorothy Slawter (nee Beam), Lillian Slawter (nee Mendez). Sadly missed by his step children, Doris and Michael.
Family and friends are invited to attend his visitation and funeral on Thursday, July 9th at McCafferty Funeral & Cremation Inc., 6711 Frankford Ave. (between Unruh & Knorr sts). You may visit and comfort Rusling’s family from 9:30 am – 11:00 am. There will be a eulogy service starting 11:00 am. Further arrangements will be held in private by his family.
