With profound sadness and endless love, we announce the passing of Rosemarie McDonnell (DeTorro), a devoted wife, loving mother, cherished sister, aunt, great-aunt, cousin, and loyal friend. She passed away surrounded by the love of her family, leaving behind a lifetime of treasured memories and a legacy of kindness, generosity, and unconditional love.

Rosemarie was the beloved wife of Philip McDonnell and the proud, devoted mother of Jacquelyne McDonnell (Joseph), who was the light of her life.

She is also survived by her loving siblings, Kathleen Sciarrone (Daniel), Francis DeTorro Jr. (Sharon), and Michael DeTorro Sr.; her cherished nieces and nephews, Maria (Mark), Gina, Dominic (Leanne), Vincent (Kayla), and Michael Jr.; her adored great-nieces and great-nephews: Nico, Emilio, Julianne, and Josphine. her loving cousin, Roberta Serbin (Dennis); and Joyce Fiore, who was like a daughter to Rosemarie. She also leaves behind many extended family members and dear friends whose lives were touched by her kindness and generosity.

Rosemarie was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Francis DeTorro Sr. and Janet Pickard.

Rosemarie was happiest when she was caring for the people she loved. She was an incredible cook whose homemade meals brought family together, and her meatballs were truly second to none. Cooking was more than a hobby-it was one of the many ways she expressed her love.

Family meant everything to Rosemarie. She was happiest when everyone was together, sharing a meal, celebrating milestones, or simply enjoying each other’s company. She had a remarkable ability to make people feel welcome, cared for, and loved. Whether someone needed a helping hand, a listening ear, or words of encouragement, she was always there without hesitation.

Outside of caring for her family, Rosemarie enjoyed shopping, spending time at the casino, and finding joy in life’s simple pleasures. She had a generous heart and found happiness in giving to others. She will be remembered for her compassion, her strength, her sense of humor, and the love she poured into everyone fortunate enough to know her.

To her daughter, Rosemarie was more than a mother—she was a best friend, biggest supporter, and constant source of encouragement. She believed in Jacquelyne wholeheartedly, always reminding her that she could accomplish anything she set her mind to.

That unwavering belief became one of the greatest gifts she ever gave.

Although our hearts are broken, we find comfort knowing that the love she gave will live on in every family gathering, every treasured recipe, every cherished memory, and every act of kindness inspired by her example.

Rosemarie will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.

Family and friends are invited to attend her visitation and funeral on Thursday, August 13th in St. Dominic Church 8504 Frankford Ave. You may visit and comfort Rosemarie’s family from 10:00 am – 11:00 am in church. There will be a funeral mass starting at 11:00 am.
