Richard K. Gaver
Richard Kenneth Gaver (Rick), of Doylestown, PA, passed away peacefully on October 6, 2026, at age 84, with his beloved family by his side.
Born on August 24, 1942 in Hagerstown, MD, he was the son of the late Kenneth C. and Sarah Catherine (née Horsh) Gaver. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Valdona (née Romanauskas) Gaver and was preceded in death by his brother Dr. Robert C. Gaver.
Raised in Greencastle, PA, he attended Greencastle-Antrim High School, graduating with the class of 1960. After graduation, he attended the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy and Science. He later graduated from Delaware Valley College with a BS in Business Administration.
Rick was a veteran of the United States Army Medical Corps.
After serving his country, he maintained a career as a computer programmer/systems analyst. He retired from Merck Sharp and Dohme after nearly 25 years of service.
Following retirement, he owned and managed RKG Properties, which specialized in student housing in Shippensburg, PA. During that time, he worked in the cafeteria at Shippensburg University, a position he thoroughly enjoyed.
Rick was very active in Doylestown Township, serving as an Auditor, as Township Supervisor for 18 years, and as a member of the Zoning Hearing Board. He devoted a total of 38 years to scouting with the Boy Scouts of America, serving as Assistant Scoutmaster of Troop 71, District Commissioner, Cub Resident Camp Chairman, Council Training Chairman, and Council Executive Officer. He received the Lenape District Kangaroo Award and the Council Silver Beaver Award.
As a member of the Central Bucks Senior Center, he served as Treasurer, an Executive Board member, and a proud cinnamon bun dough maker. He also was a longtime soccer referee and a PIAA official for track and field.
Rick was also a member of Doylestown American Legion Post 210, where he served as Commander and Adjutant; Doylestown Free and Accepted Masons Lodge 245; LuLu Shriners; LuLu Legion of Honor; LuLu Scouting Association; and Scottish Rite, Valley of Allentown.
Rick was known for his friendly demeanor, sense of humor, and deep love for his family. When not serving the community, Rick enjoyed spending time with Val. Over the years, they enjoyed seeing shows at the Bucks County Playhouse, taking many trips together, attending Olde Home Week in Greencastle, PA, and sharing Sunday evening dinners, as Rick loved to cook.
Together, Rick and Val raised three wonderful sons. He was an awesome Pap to all of his grandchildren. He read to them when they were little, took them to shows and on walks, and as they grew older, loved attending their concerts, graduations, and most of all, their sporting events. Some of his other favorite activities were taking drives back to South Central PA, reading the Wall Street Journal and “grazing” at Costco. He even wrote his own autobiography, which will forever be a treasure to his family.
Rick is survived by three sons: Arunas V. (Celeste) of Reynoldsburg, OH, Rimas V. (Amy) of Horsham, PA, and Dobilas A. Gaver of Elkins Park, PA. He is also survived by seven grandchildren Acadia, Zydrunas, Natanas, Araceli, Zachary, Evan, and Tyler.
