Michael G. Hondros Sr.
Michael G. Hondros Sr. of Philadelphia passed away peacefully on March 6, 2025, at the age of 77. Mike has been reunited with his beloved wife, Peggy (née Alford), who preceded him in death. He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories. Mike was a dedicated and loving father to his children: Christine Gallo (George), Michael Hondros Jr. (Stacy), Peter Hondros (Ashley), and the late Alex Hondros. He was a proud and loving Pop-Pop to his grandchildren: Bryan Hondros (Veronica), Jessica Murphy (Patrick), Gabrielle Hondros, Erin Portillo (Lou), Matthew Gallo (Samantha), Kara Hondros, Michael Hondros III, and the late Angela Marie Gallo. Great-grandfather to the very soon to be Baby Murphy. In addition to his family, Mike was preceded in death by his two loyal furry companions, Zeus and Juno, who brought him much joy and comfort throughout the years. A man of great character and warmth, Mike will be remembered for his unwavering love for his family. His presence will be missed by all who knew him. The family invites friends and loved ones to join them in celebrating Mike’s life and legacy on Friday, March 14, from 9:30 am-11:00 am. at McCafferty Funeral & Cremation Inc. 6711 Frankford Ave. (between Unruh & Knorr sts) There will be a prayer service at 11:00 am in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St Francis Inn.
