Mary L. Lynn

Mary L. Lynn (née Slacum), age 75, passed away on April 29, 2025, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the city where she was born and spent her life.

Born on March 13, 1950, in Philadelphia, Mary built a life rooted in dedication to family, hard work, and community. She began her working years at the corner store owned by her family, where she became a familiar and friendly face to many in the neighborhood. After the store closed, Mary continued her career with Wawa, where she held several management positions until her retirement. Her time at Wawa left a lasting impression—so much so that even after retiring, people would stop her on the street just to say hello and reminisce about their shared memories.

Mary’s warmth extended far beyond her professional life. She was well-loved and admired by many who knew her through work and community ties. Over the years, countless friends came to see her as a second mother—a testament to the kindness and care she offered so freely.

The family was at the heart of everything Mary did. She is lovingly remembered by her three daughters: Eve Mae Myers and husband Mike Myers, Angela M. Lynn, and Lisa Godley; as well as by her three grandsons: Michael Myers; Nicholas Myers and his fiancée Carlie Hartman; and Derrick Lynn with his longtime girlfriend Tatyana. Mary also leaves behind two brothers, Chuck Slacum, and Gary Aaron; three sisters, Maureen Haas, Diane Morocco, Edie Waldron, and Loretta Thompson; her sister-in-law Mary Hayden and husband Stan Hayden along with many nieces and nephews who cherished their time with her.

She was preceded in death by her husband Henry Lynn, sister Eve McClain, and two brothers, Edward “Eddie” Miller and James “Jimmy” Miller.

Mary found joy in simple pleasures—playing cards with friends, enjoying a lively game of bingo, or crocheting something special for someone she loved. But above all else, what brought her the greatest happiness was spending time with her family. Whether it was a quiet evening at home or a bustling family gathering, Mary treasured every moment shared with those closest to her.

Her presence touched countless lives across generations. The impact she made—through both small gestures of kindness and enduring relationships—will not be forgotten.

May Mary’s memory bring comfort to all who knew them and continue to inspire love and connection among those they leave behind.

Family and friends are invited to attend her memorial gathering and funeral on Saturday, May 17th  from 9:00 am –10:30 am at McCafferty Funeral & Cremation Inc. 6711 Frankford Ave. (between Unruh & Knorr sts) There will be a word of remembrance service with eulogies at 10:30 am.
