Lauren Evelyn Loose
Lauren Evelyn Loose, 29, of West Point, New York and Beach Haven Gardens, New Jersey, formerly of Easton, Pennsylvania, died August 12, 2026. Lauren is survived by her large and loving family and a litany of friends whom she considered family: her parents, John and Marianne Loose; her sister and best friend, Grace Loose; her maternal grandparents, Frank and Mary Santoro; her aunts and uncles, Jean and Tony Marotta, Richard and Patrice Domozych, Frank and Holly Santoro, Bryan and Alene Meehan, and Steven and Debra Gonyeau; and her cousins, Charlie, Krista, and Dominic Marotta; Alan, Alyse, and Rafael Morris; Wes and Gabriele Stryker; Thomas, Michael, and James Domozych; Hannah and Erin Meehan; Frank and Olivia Santoro; Nathan and Cameron Gonyeau; Rachel and Renee Domozych and her bonus grandmother, Peggy Lawson.
She was predeceased by her paternal grandparents, James and Barbara Loose; her uncle, Gerald Loose; and her beloved German Shepherd, Brenner James.
Lauren was a proud 2015 graduate of Easton Area High School in Easton, Pennsylvania, where she led her class in the graduation procession and left a lasting impression on her school community. Many of those friendships continued long after her family moved back to New York, becoming a cherished part of her life.
After graduation, Lauren continued her education at CTEC in Goshen, New York, where she earned her certification as a Medical Administrative Assistant and explored her love of the culinary arts through the school’s culinary program.
Lauren was a relentless dreamer with big plans and an unwavering determination to make them a reality. She happily brought others along for the ride of their lives. She loved planning her birthday parties, creating elaborate themes that often included contests, costumes and above all, lots of laughter. Her epic Fear Factor-themed birthday party in 2004 nearly resulted in frostbite for a few unsuspecting partygoers. A story that, like so many Lauren stories, was remembered and retold with laughter.
Lauren was an author, a foodie, a lover of all dogs, a daredevil, an inspirational speaker, a philanthropist, a creative artist, a cultivator of hot peppers and an exceptionally thoughtful and generous gift giver. Her foundation, Lauren’s First and Goal has raised over 3 million dollars to support a mission of funding pediatric brain tumor research and supporting families living with a pediatric cancer diagnosis.
She had a gift for creating her own words and expressions and using them so frequently that the people around her inevitably adopted them too. “Impricable,” “platt,” “come-om-ing,” and “teacherette.” Look them up; you won’t find them in the dictionary. When she began speaking, she officially renamed her Aunt Patrice “Amper,” because who can be bothered with three syllables when two will do?
Lauren’s happiest moments were those in which she was giving to others. She possessed a rare ability to make everyone she met feel loved, welcomed, valued, and part of her circle of strength. She gave freely of herself, her time, her creativity, and her enormous heart.
Over the past several months, Lauren and her family shared many meaningful conversations about life, priorities, and what truly brings joy to our days. As her physical health declined, she made the conscious choice to spend her time doing the things she loved most: being with family and friends at her happy place, the beach and working at her dream job at Compassion Café in Beach Haven, NJ.
Her Café family gave her the gift of purpose. They treated her with loving kindness and compassion and helped her maintain a sense of normalcy during an incredibly difficult period in her life. Lauren, in turn, continued to give of herself each day. She made a conscious decision to be generous, kind and thoughtful toward those around her and strived to live her life according to the virtues of her Catholic faith.
Lauren’s life was marked by perseverance, courage, creativity, laughter, generosity and an extraordinary capacity to love. She dreamed boldly, loved fiercely and made people feel that they belonged. Her greatest gift was not simply the joy she found in life, but the joy she brought into the lives of everyone fortunate enough to know her.
Memorial donations in Lauren’s memory may be made to Compassion Café LBI. In addition, the family welcomes spiritual palancas—offers of prayer, small sacrifices, or random acts of kindness performed in her loving memory.
From the very first time I met Lauren @ EAMS Gr 6 I knew she was a special angel ! She was an inspiration to everyone she spoke to including me! I could not wait to talk with her and share stories with her. I was a football coach and knew her dad was coaching at Lafayette I have a daughter named Lauren so we had a starter for talks. As time went on I could see just how special this angel was and was going to be. She was clearly one student I could never forget and one who was a huge inspiration to everyone who had the honor to meet her. I was glad to see all her great accomplishments but not the least bit surprised!! Remember at this time of sadness that this girl is now sharing her greatness in another space and how lucky the other angels are and how much they will learn from her. I want to end by saying how lucky and blessed I was to have crossed path with this true angel in person on earth! I feel eternally grateful to have met and spent time with Lauren. She is an extremely special soul. Lauren was one of the kindest, funniest, most loving people I have ever met! Lauren and I have known each other for over 20 years and words can't even begin to describe how much her friendship has meant to me! Her family always made me feel welcomed, loved and accepted and I'm so thankful to be able to consider them like a second family! Lauren and I both have NF1 and it has always been comforting to have someone who actually could understand the fear! However, Lauren never let NF define her! She walked through life with such an energy! She inspired me to not be ashamed of NF but embrace it, always smile, be kind to others and so much more! Lauren didn't have a mean bone in her body and that's something more people should strive to be like! I am so fortunate to have so many memories with Lauren but my favorite memories consists of the memories where we did nothing! From all the movie nights back in Easton, video chatting for hours where we talked about silly things and when I was asked what we talked about I would laugh because I had no answer because we talked about all kinds of stuff, and baking cookies at LBI when I would spend long weekends for a few summers! I have the fondest memories of hanging out with Lauren at Camp Can Do and hanging out with her when we were at the hospital for treatments on the same day. Just like Lauren I have NF1 and Lauren whom I followed on social media as we grew up was such an inspiration. She was truly a kind person and will be dearly missed.

I am heartbroken to hear of Lauren’s passing. She was a truly special young woman who left a lasting mark on my life and on the way I choose to approach each day.
From the time I worked as her aide, starting in eighth grade all the way through graduation, Lauren showed me what real strength and grace look like. Even on her hardest days, she met the world with a positive outlook that never failed to lift those around her. That quiet determination and light stayed with me long after our school years ended.
I also had the privilege of knowing her as a neighbor—watching her grow up side by side with my son. Those years of shared childhood, everyday moments, and quiet friendship only deepened my admiration for the person she was.
Lauren taught me, without ever trying to, that kindness and optimism are powerful choices. I will carry the lessons she gave me for the rest of my life.
Please know that I am holding you all in my thoughts and sending deepest sympathy. Lauren will be deeply missed, and her beautiful spirit will not be forgotten.

Firstly, I’m sending endless amounts of love and care to Lauren’s amazingly strong family. I remember Lauren from school. We would eat lunch together everyday from middle school till highschool. I had changed schools right when I was a sophomore and she was a junior. We kept in touch as best as we could. From there I followed her on her page. She was one of the funniest people I’ve ever met. Lexie and I are devasted by this news. We went to the beach and tonight about Lauren all day. We remember her love of dogs and her meeting our cocker spaniel Max when she came to dedicate the pet therapy room at camp. We remember her sending Max a green frog and how Remy took it over as his favorite toy…and it is still in one peace, although lovingly chewed. We remember Lauren’s love of food and celebrations. We remember her recent reviews of different refreshers. We remember her at Central Park for the Pumpkinfest. We remember coming upon a church in Venice which had St. Lucia’s body in it, and we left Lauren’s picture with her right around the time of her spinal surgery. We remember finding out later that she wore a St. Lucia medal around her neck. We didn’t even know…We remember…💜❤️💜

I didn’t have the privilege of knowing Lauren, but I knew of her and her family through our mutual friend, Larry Pacifico. Larry loved Lauren and always spoke so highly of her, particularly her courage and love of life.
I don’t really know what I believe when it comes to the afterlife, but I like to imagine Larry greeting her above with the biggest hug and his million-dollar smile, his and her dog Brenner by his side.

I have known Lauren and her family for many years. My favorite memory of her was when she was a student at Tracy Elementary School and I was volunteering for the PTA at a table in the lobby. Lauren was on her way to lunch and she came over to the table and told us how excited she was because she had money and she would be buying a school lunch that day. Oh the joy she expressed through her smile, her giddiness and her words. After she walked away the other parent and I both said, “ gee, if everyone had just a little bit of Lauren Loose in them, this world would be a much better place!” My world is better having known her and experienced her courage, her determination, and her bravery. She was one special young woman!! I pray that you are at peace Lauren and your body has been healed. God bless the entire Loose family.

I am an 80 year old woman who just met this wonderful girl through all the comments I just read. What a tribute to her life. I am sad I didn’t know her before this. Peace to all of you who have lost this angel. Nothing can replace her so I’m glad you have your memories.
Special blessings to her parents who have suffered the worst thing that can happen to a parent. She is free and healthy now. There is joy in that.
I was one of Lauren’s camp counselors when she attended summer camp many years ago. Lauren was always ready to hide her rat templeton in the newcomers beds, try to convince us to let her ride the rides at Hershey she wasn’t supposed to, or eat more treats! But her excitement to eat her yearly hotdog was hysterical. She had a great attitude even when she was cold and sleepy. She was a great friend and I’m so glad social media allowed me to keep up with her life and adventures. Lauren taught us a lot about resilience and I’ll be forever grateful. I was Lauren’s school counselor for 5th and 6th grade. With thousands of students passing through the middle school each year, I remember her amazing positive attitude… about everything. She was a very joyful girl and such an inspiration to those around her. My prayers go out to her family and may the Lord keep her close.

I had the pleasure of meeting Lauren through Compassion Café and Beach Haven School, and it didn’t take long to see the impact she had on everyone around her. When I learned about her dream of taking a mixology class, I knew it was something special to share with her. We bonded over our love for sweet drinks and iced teas, and I was so impressed by how much she already knew about mixology—honestly, more than most bartenders I know! I also had the privilege of meeting her family, and you could truly feel how much love surrounded Lauren in that room. It’s a simple memory, but one I will always hold close to my heart. I feel so lucky to have known Lauren, and her kindness, joy, and beautiful spirit will never be forgotten. My deepest condolences to her family and friends.

I have been very fortunate to have had so many impactful students I have dealt with over the years and when I heard of Lauren’s passing I pondered how lucky I was to have had the opportunity to get to know her. Lauren brought so much into Jessica’s and my lives. We treasured our time with her and feel so incredibly blessed that we had the privilege of being her school PTs. She was brave, strong, and had an amazing spirit that was impossible not to love. No matter what she was facing in her own life, she had this incredible ability to bring joy, laughter, and light to the people around her.
We still share with our students the song she made up about us: “Pain and torture, pain and torture, what they do, what they do. First they break your leg, then they make you cry. Oh fun, oh what fun!” It still makes us smile and reminds us so much of her wonderful sense of humor and personality.
We will always remember teaching her how to skip out front of the middle school building. It may have seemed like such a small moment at the time, but those are the moments that stay with you. Lauren taught us that even in the midst of challenges, there could still be laughter, determination, and joy. the love she gave and the mark she left on the people fortunate enough to know her will never be measured by the number of years she had. She touched our lives in a way that we will carry with us always. 💕
From the very beginnings of Compassion Café in 2021, our family has been welcomed into a new world of caring and sharing, where every person has value, where their hopes and dreams can be realized. Since that time, we have gotten to know Marianne, John, Grace, and Aunt Patrice. They are the the the bedrock foundation, but also only part of the team that has been gathering and growing behind the beacon of hope that is Lauren, receiving and spreading the joy of her message, her indomitable spirit. So, thank you to all the members of the Loose family, for sharing your Lauren with the world!
Our own family wanted to show support and try to provide whatever measure of comfort that friendship can offer during a time of loss. We have heard of the term- “Celebration of Life” before, but never imagined that it could actually become a reality. It is our sincere feeling that Lauren’s family were the ones providing the comfort and support to the rest of us in attendance! We will remember, and will do our best to follow in Lauren’s footsteps…
I had the pleasure of meeting Lauren through Compassion Café and Beach Haven School, and it didn’t take long to see the impact she had on everyone around her. When I learned about her dream of taking a mixology class, I knew it was something special to share with her. We bonded over our love for sweet drinks and iced teas, and I was so impressed by how much she already knew about mixology. It’s a simple memory, but one I will always hold close to my heart. I feel very lucky to have known Lauren, and her kindness and beautiful spirit will never be forgotten.
