Jose Miguel Torres
Jose Miguel Torres, born in Cayey, Puerto Rico, and later relocated to Philadelphia as a teenager, sadly passed away on May 20, 2025, at the age of 69.
Jose honorably served in the Pennsylvania Army National Guard for 20 years with HHC 56th Brigade, 28th Infantry Division, working in both communications and motor pool sections before retiring. He spent countless weekends fishing at the Coast Guard station in Cape May. He also had a passion for softball and basketball and was an avid fisherman. Above all, he treasured spending time with his children and grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his beloved parents, Monserrate and Isidra Torres, as well as his brothers William, Roberto, and David, and his sister Adelaida.
Jose was a loving father to Jose Miguel Torres “Pito”, Miguel Angel Torres, and Misty Marshall. He was a proud grandfather to King, Saint, Destiny, Soraya, Torvi, and Kaelyn, and a cherished great-grandfather to Malina.
He is survived by his siblings Hector, Marta, Luis, and Maria, and leaves behind many nieces and nephews, Santos, Jose, Willie, Iris, Emily, Luis, Danny, Juan Jose, Maite, Alberto, Sammy, Macho, Ricardo, Alex, Hector, Jr., Britney, Yajaira, Elizabeth, Madelin, Junior and Wanda as well as numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.
All are invited to attend Jose’s viewing and prayer service on Friday, May 23rd, at McCafferty Funeral & Cremation Inc., located at 6711 Frankford Ave., Philadelphia, PA 19135 (between Unruh & Knorr Sts.), from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM. A prayer service will follow at 11:00 AM at the funeral home.
Burial with military honors will be held privately at a later date at Washington Crossing National Cemetery.
