Shared Memories

Jacqueline McNichols, sadly passed away June 24, 2024, at 85. Born and raised in Newark, NJ, Jacqueline later settled in Philadelphia where she lovingly raised her family. She was the daughter of the late Chester and Cathleen Wheeler. Jacqueline was a devoted mother to her late children Dana, Scott, and Chipper, and a cherished grandmother to Lakia, Craig, Kyle, Lauren, Scott, Tyrique, and Dana. Jacqueline is survived by her life partner of 45 years, Robert Lott, her former spouse and friend, Alfred McNichols, her great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and her granddaughter-in-law, Kimberly. Jacqueline is known for her elegance and sophistication. She had a passion for travel, she loved flowers, the color orange, and treasured her family above all else.

My deepest condolences to all of the McNichols family and friends. My hart was very saddened when Pastor Troutman informed me of Jackie’s passing. I met her through Pastor Troutman, what a beautiful person inside and out! Her infectious smile and hart is to be remembered always! Rest Peacefully in the Master’s arms Jackie! 💜🙏🏾

Miss Jackie was such a bright and beautiful soul. She always spoke life and love into me everytime we saw each other. Jackie and Bob were friends of my parents for years before I ever met them. I spent a lot of time with Bob working on projects, editing at his house and Jackie was usually there, making sure I was ok and had some water or food. She a unique ability to let you know she really saw you. It didn’t matter where we were she would always find time to come and connect with me and let me know that I was seen. Oftentimes when she did that it helped tremendously, as I would be trying to setup cameras in a crowd of very influential people, who I often thought were thinking, what is this young guy doing here and why didn’t he follow the dress code lol, but when Jackie would come and speak she would make me feel like I belonged and helped me to settle in. Jackie’s beautiful energy and spirit will be missed dearly. I was blessed to have known her for the time I did.

I first met Jacqueline in 2006 while on a trip to Africa. Jackie and Bob met me at the airport in Egypt and took me to the hotel. The first thing that I noticed about Jackie was her radiant smile. We had indept conversations while in Africa and that started our long-term friendship with her and Bob. My life was greatly enriched by meeting her.

The time that I really had the pleasure of meeting Jackie was in Egypt when Jackie and Bob met us at the airport to bring us to the Hotel. We were on a trip to Africa with Ali and Helen. I will never forget that radiant smile from Jackie as she greeted us. Her personality was so magnetic and her insight made my trip to Africa a memorable one. From that time on Jackie and Bob became one of my closest friends. The trip happened in 2006 and I will never forget it. I know that Jackie's works will continue in heaven and she will be watching over all of us. I am so happy that my wife Carolyn and I had the chance to visit with her last year when she was going through hospice care.

To My Dearest Friend The hours we spent on the phone have come to an end. But the wisdom imparted to me by you will be memorialized in my mind until my predestined time. At 6:46pm on June 21, 2024, I called you to wish you a happy birthday and to check on you and to tell you I love you. Normally, I would receive a phone call or text. I received neither but I did leave the message. It never entered my mind that you were waiting on the train to take you up to Glory. Take your sleep until we meet again.

Jackie and I have been friends for over 20 years. We were traveling buddies visiting Ghana, Egypt, Brazil, Morocco and Paris together. I have received calls of condolences from our friends in both Ghana and Egypt. Jackie is a beautiful soul. She loved music and she loved to dance. Her laughter still rings in my ears! She was a dedicated mom and grandmom to her children and grandchildren making sure to be there for them always. I spoke with Jackie just a week ago when she congratulated me for our Juneteenth event. I can’t believe that one week later she had gone on to be with the ancestors. Rest well with the ancestors my dear friend!

I met Jackie about 15 years ago at a film festival. There were many things going on and we happened to meet. I was awed by her outward beauty but her inter glow was captivating. I was honored to have known her. May she rest in peace. To Bob and her family you find strength and peace in God's love. Keeping your family in prayer.

I met Jackie during my D’Zert Club days (2001-2010).She always had a calming spirit and loving personality. I really got to know her last. My good friend Janice Stewart from Maryland called me and told me she was sick. Janice came to Philly and we visited her and Bob.Since then, I would call her and we would talk and laugh about life.I visited her a few times and took her some cheesecake. Each conversation was spiritual, enlightening and full of laughter. Jackie was at peace and had her eye on the prize. I’m glad I got to Really know Jackie. ‘A Beautiful Spirit’

  8. Aunt Jackie had such a beautiful soul and a beautiful smile. I remember trips coming to the east coast and staying with her for the weekend and the first time she took me to church. I was so nervous because I didn’t have church clothes and she gave me a hug and said “don’t worry baby. U can wear exactly what u have on. U will be just fine.” And she gave me the biggest hug. She just had a way of comforting you and making u feel soo loved.

  24. My sincerest condolences to Jackie’s family and to Bob. I met Bob and Jackie in the early 1980’s and was fortunate enough to work with them on many of their early television and video projects. Jackie always had kind words, pleasant smiles, and an infectious laughter! I will always treasure the moments we had “back in the day”!

  25. Wow what a phenomenal woman (in my Maya Angelou’s voice). Wow! Is all I can say when I speak in reference to Ms.♡. Aunt ♡ Mom Jackie. Although she was not my biological grandgift/mom. She was my biological sister Lakia’s mom♡grandgift and I am so blessed 🙌🏽 I was chosen by God to bear witness to the PUREST HEART ❤️ & SOUL I’ve ever met & talked to. Mom Jackie, dropped soooooo many jewels on me, I can’t even write them all since I’ve known her beautiful soul over 40 years of my life . Thanks to me & my sisters father John C. Whitehead. Mom Jackie told me to make sure I make it a point too go to Egypt before I leave this earth, it’s definitely on my bucket list.
You may not be with us in the flesh, but your positive attitude and energy ✨️ lives through me. Our last conversation in June a week before our birthdays 6♡13 & 6♡14 was overwhelmingly hilarious, emotional & the realists EVER it lasted over an hour long & selfishly I didn’t want to hang up, but she was tired of talking, she always ended with iloveu ♡❤️& give my love to everyone. Selflessly always concerned about everyone else. Mom Jackie you were the G.O.A.T ♡MATRIARCH of your family. I will miss you soooooo much, although the love hits different when it’s not biological, I know for a fact your babies are gonna miss you soooooo much more. You are and will always be a Phenomenal Woman BY the late Maya Angelou

  29. Such a beautiful woman with great energy and big spirit. Warmth and genuine concern was always with her.

  30. I’m so blessed to have been able to tell Jackie how much I loved her… what she meant to me… who she was to me… she’ll always be in my heart. Jackie was rare. Her beauty-infinite. Her spirit will live on in so many hearts. I will always keep you close Jackie. I’m thankful for you.

  31. Jackie was a kind and gracious soul. She deeply cared about people and making a contribution to easing their burden. She was generous with her time and patience.

I first met Jackie and Bob in 1985 when I returned to Philadelphia from a humanitarian mission to Ethiopia as part of a delegation of 11 women led by Mrs. Jesse Jackson at the invitation of Prime Minister Mengistu. Our purpose there was to confirm that the money being raised across America to help the starving people of Ethiopia during the 1985 drought was actually getting to the people and was not being siphoned off by the Ethiopian government to pay for their war against Eritrea.

I had taken a lot of photos during the trip and felt compelled to document this trip in order to raise awareness and money for the starving Ethiopians we had seen. I brought my idea to Bob and Jackie. They both embraced me like an old friend and helped me create a very compelling documentary out of the story I told about the trip and the pictures I took. The process of making the documentary created a strong bond between the three of us. Jackie and Bob were genuinely interested in the subject matter and helping me get the word out.

They were such an amazing couple and professional team. The warmth for each other and the projects they chose showed through their work.

I will miss Jackie. She was the salt of the earth. Condolences to Bob and her family.

  32. Jackie McNichols, more a Mom . My Mother in law. I was married to her eldest son, Scott. I can’t imagine trying to describe the impact Mom Jackie had on my life. All the challenges that presented themselves in my life since 2009 was met by her strength, courage and willingness to accompany me to the other side no matter what the problem was. Mom Jackie loved me n I never stopped knowing it . She showed me by her constant words of love n concern for me. I’m so glad that I got to sit n talk to her for over 5 hrs last month. I wore her out n we both knew it , trying to catch up. My love for her is infinity, gone but never forgotten. Love Ethel McNichols

  33. When I first met Jackie in the mid eighties at Bob’s office in their quaint basement office in Old City, she made an instant and lasting impression on me. She was a beautiful soul and despite what may have been going on in her life, she always beamed as if full of sunshine always conveyed warmth and love. Every time I think of her, she brings me joy.

  34. I was saddened to hear of Jackie’s transition. If there is a service Dawn and I would like to attend. She will be missed.
