Charles “Chuck” Bushbeck

Charles “Chuck” Bushbeck, beloved father, grandfather, brother, and mentor, passed away peacefully on September 28, 2026, at the age of 66, surrounded by the loving family who meant so much to him. He was born in Philadelphia, PA, on August 2, 1960, to his late parents, Charles Bushbeck and Dolores Bushbeck.

Family was at the heart of Chuck’s life. He was a devoted father and grandfather who cherished the time he spent with the people he loved. His greatest joy was his family, and he took great pride in his children and grandchildren. As his life came to a close, he was comforted by the presence of his loved ones, surrounded by the family he had spent his life loving and caring for.

Chuck had a lifelong passion for sports, especially baseball and football, and was an accomplished athlete himself. He played college football as a kicker at Villanova University and East Carolina University, and later had the opportunity to pursue his dream professionally with a brief stint as a kicker for the Memphis Showboats.

He eventually turned his love of sports and working with young people into a career of his own. After beginning his career as a social worker, Chuck opened his own gym and baseball training facility, where he spent countless hours helping young athletes develop their skills and confidence. His passion and knowledge of baseball also led him to scout for the Los Angeles Angels.

But perhaps what brought Chuck the most fulfillment was working directly with young athletes. He continued training young baseball and softball players late into his life, teaching them not only about the game, but also about hard work, perseverance, confidence, and believing in themselves.

Chuck is survived by his children, Lauren (Dan), Ryan (Ellyn), and Kevin, and his five grandchildren, Scarlett, Cameron, Sloane, Wesley, and Elliotte, who brought him tremendous joy. He is also survived by his sister, Kathy, and her husband, Larry, along with extended family and many dear friends.

Chuck defied the odds more times than anyone could count. Time and time again, when things seemed impossible, he fought his way through. He never gave up easily, and he fought with everything he had for the life he loved and the people he loved most. That determination was a part of who he was, and his family will always be proud of the strength and courage he showed throughout his life.

In his final moments, Chuck was exactly where he wanted to be—with his family. We held his hand, told him how much we loved him, and were together as he peacefully said goodbye. Though saying goodbye was incredibly difficult, we are grateful we could be there for him, just as he had always been there for us.

Chuck’s memory will live on in his children and grandchildren, in the athletes he taught, and in the countless moments that made him who he was. We will carry him with us always.
