John J. Orme
John Joseph Orme, 88, of Southampton, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, May 15, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.
Born July 15, 1937 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to the late Thomas and Catherine (née Towey) Orme, John was the youngest of five siblings. The others – Thomas Orme, Mary Conway Donahue, Catherine Hoffman and Rita McComiskey – preceded him in death. He proudly served his country as a medic in the United States Army after graduating from Northeast Catholic High School. Following his military service, he found his calling in cosmetology and ultimately became a small business owner. He operated a successful salon in Jenkintown for 40 years and was a licensed real estate agent for 30 years.
John will be remembered as a humble and gentle man who valued hard work, honesty, and compassion. He believed the world could always use one more kind-hearted person and he strove to be that person every day. To his children, he was a loving and supportive father who led by example and instilled enduring values. To his beloved wife, he was a devoted partner who felt truly blessed by the life and family they built together.
Guided by a deep faith and firm conviction, John embraced salvation as promised in the gospel message: “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16.
John is survived by his cherished wife of 50 years, Kathleen (née Fonash) Orme. He is also survived by his two children: Christopher Orme (Katiuscia) and Colleen Lang (Steven); and eight adored grandchildren: Isabella, Jake, Giselle, Ava, Joy, Trevor, Bianca, and Daniella; as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate John’s life on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, visitation starting at 10:00 a.m. at Calvary Chapel of Philadelphia, 13500 Philmont Avenue, Philadelphia PA 19116. There will be a prayer service at 11:00 am (https://www.google.com/maps/

I have only known John and Kathy along with John and Marlene for last couple years at church. John had become dear to me. He is such a kind and gentle person. It is easy to see why Kathy loves him so much. I remember his birthday about a year ago or so, when I saw him in the parking lot after church, he wanted to show me a card that was in his car. It was a birthday card from Kathy. He was so proud and blessed just having that card to show me. Also, even in the last so many months when he was suffering, he still had a smile and a sense of humor. It is a real blessing knowing John and Kathy. In Him, Larry
