Robert Murphy (1948-2023)
Robert Murphy (75), of the Pine Valley section of Philadelphia, passed away at home on November 23, 2023. Born in West Philadelphia in 1948 to Raymond and Maura Murphy (née McNicholas). Robert was one of the eldest of eleven children who embraced being part of a large, loving family.
He graduated Roman Catholic High School in 1965, before serving in the Army, stationed in Kansas during the Vietnam War. He joined the Philadelphia Police Department in 1969 serving for twenty-two years, while also graduating from Lasalle University in 1974 and Temple University School of Law in 1991. He practiced law in the Philadelphia area for 27 years while raising a family of six children. He enjoyed rooting for Philadelphia sports teams but not as much as rooting for his grandchildren and their accomplishments. Whether it be winning States in water polo, obtaining the rank of Eagle Scout, dance recitals, cheerleading or Lower Moreland HS soccer he was always there to support his family.
Loving father to Caroline (Jerry) Jiampetti, Kathleen (Robert) DeMarco, Paul, Bobby (Natalie), Kerrie, and Briana. Cherished Poppop to eleven grandchildren; Raymond, Kenneth, Mairead, Daniel, Ava, Olivia, Braelynn, Mason, Kendra, Calogero, and Trevor.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing and funeral on Thursday, November 30 at St. Albert the Great RC Church, 212 Welsh Road, Huntingdon Valley, PA 19006. You may visit and comfort Robert’s family during the viewing from 9:30-11:30am in the church. His funeral mass will be held at 11:30am with interment to follow at Resurrection Cemetery, 5201 Hulmeville Rd, Bensalem, PA 19020.
