Robert J. Reed
It is with heavy hearts and deep sadness that we announce the passing of Robert Joseph James Reed, who succumbed to his battle with cancer at the age of 70.
He is welcomed home by the loving arms of his mother Emma Dolores “Dot”, father Archiebald “Archie”, and sister Janice “Jan”.
He is survived by his dedicated wife of 49 years, Marlene Reed, his loving daughters Kimberly Zufolo (Brian) and Kelly Reed, and by his cherished grandchildren, Anthony and Brandon Zufolo. He will be missed by his adoring fur grandbabies, Nala, Ash, and Kermit, as well as his beloved extended family.
He is also survived by his brothers and sisters in blue in the Philadelphia Police Department, where he served 36 years with honor, service, and integrity.
He embodied those same ideals in his personal life as well. Bob was guided as much by his strong moral code as by his heart of gold. He was known to have a soft spot for animals and a youthful, playful spirit that endeared him to all, especially children.
His quiet strength, quick wit, and generous heart will be sorely missed by all who knew him. Family and friends are invited to attend his viewing and funeral on Wednesday, July 30th, from 9:30 am – 11:00 am at McCafferty Funeral & Cremation Inc., 6711 Frankford Ave. There will be a eulogy service starting at 11:00 am, where stories and memories will be shared. Further arrangements will be held in private by his family. Please omit flowers and kindly consider donations in Robert’s memory to one of the following charities that were close to his heart.
