Ralph R. Johnson, of the Mayfair section of Philadelphia, passed away on March 13, 2023, at age 94. Beloved husband of Rosemary B. (nee McIntyre). Loving father of Denise Johnson, Celeste Hawthorne (Robert) and Gerard Johnson. Devoted Pop pop of Devin Hawthorne-Rentschler (James) and Patrick Hawthorne. Also survived by his cousin, Patricia Ross (Alan). Ralph proudly served in the U.S. Army during Korean War as a Combat Engineer attached to 25th Infantry Division, leading a platoon that specialized in clearing enemy mines and booby traps. He attended Penn State University for Machine and Tool Design and then worked for Crane Environmental Systems for 47 years and advanced to Vice President of Marketing.
Member: American Society of Mechanical Engineers. Active in Senior Citizens after retirement in 1992. Served as President of Mayfairers Club and was a delegate to Northeast Council of Senior Citizens. Family and friends are invited to attend his viewing and funeral on Tuesday March 28, from 10:30am – 11:30am at McCafferty Funeral & Cremation Inc. 6711 Frankford Ave. (between Unruh & Knorr Sts) There will be a prayer service at 11:30am Burial to follow, with military honors, in Washington Crossing National Cemetery.
