Matthew Richard Barowski, also known as Matty, passed away on September 19, 2023, at the age of 71, in Philadelphia, PA. He was born on December 5, 1951, in Philadelphia. Matty served in the US Marine Corps as a Lance Corporal during the Vietnam War. He was a dedicated individual who served his country with honor. In his civilian life, Matty had a successful career that spanned several decades. He worked at Craftex as a weaver for 12 years, he also spent several years working at Richardson Mint before transitioning to a position as a dedicated Environmental Services professional. He spent over 20 years serving at St. Mary’s Hospital, Northeastern Hospital, and later at Temple Hospital. Matty will be deeply missed by his loved ones. He is survived by his sister, Virginia R. Hornberger (The late James), and brother, Edward M. (Maria). He was cherished by many nieces and nephews. Matty was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Dorothy Mae and Matthew “Shorty”. A ceremony to honor Matty’s life will be held at a later date, and details will be announced. His remains will be cremated according to his wishes.
