Mary Anne Macartney (née Tierney), left us to mourn her loss on February 23, 2024. For 15 years  Mary Anne was Law Office Administrator for Selective Insurance at Romando Zirulnik Sherlock & DeMille in Mt Laurel, New Jersey. Mary Anne’s leadership style was to raise people up, recognize excellence and credit others. With a reputation for fairness and integrity, she managed attorneys and support staff in Philadelphia, New Jersey, and Pittsburgh.  Prior to Selective, Mary Anne learned corporate law in the 1990s working for the partner in charge of business development at Mylotte, David & Fitzpatrick in downtown Philadelphia. In the 1980s Mary Anne tabulated data and then worked in security for the Internal Revenue Service. A devout Catholic, Mary Anne supported multiple charities as a member of the Catholic Daughters and in the 1990s served as State Regent. Dedicated to family and community, Mary Anne was a member of the Home and School Association and served as its president for several years when her children attended St. Tim’s. During her professional life and in retirement, Mary Anne was quick to draft legal documents for friends and family. She kept in touch by phone and was always ready to share dramatic stories and exchange confidences. She was fortified by her dear friends. Mary Anne had a gift for appreciating others and sharing her stories and unique views. She will be dearly missed by those closest. Daughter of the late Dennis J. Tierney and the late Elizabeth Tierney. Devoted wife of the late William F. Macartney, loving mother to Sean and Dennis Macartney; Suzanne Macartney of Greenbelt, Maryland and Katey (Gary) Brand of Dix Hills, New York. Cherished grandmother of Sean Thomas Macartney and Alexander William Brand.  Sister to the late Patricia Campbell, the late Elizabeth McCauley, Kathleen Macartney, Dennis Tierney, and the late Stephen A. Tierney. Loving aunt to many nieces and nephews and dear friend to all. Friends and family are invited to attend her viewing on Thursday, February 29th at 9:30 a.m. at St. Timothy’s Roman Catholic Church, 3001 Levick Street, Philadelphia, Pa.  Funeral mass to follow at 11 o’clock. Interment at a later date at Washington Crossing National Cemetery.
