Mary Ann Walsh

Mary Ann Walsh, a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, daughter, sister, and aunt, passed away peacefully on January 9, 2026, at the age of 77.

Mary Ann’s greatest pride was her family. She is survived by her children, John “Jack” Cornely (Jenalene) and Lisa Cornely (Emil Gatone); her six grandchildren, Nicole Gatone, Hunter Cornely (Alicia), Ethan Gatone, Megan Gatone, Hayden Cornely, and Layla Cornely; and her great-grandson, Theo Thompson. She is also survived by her siblings, Michael Walsh (the late Bonnie), Francis “Pat” Walsh (Polly), Catherine Lavin, Joan McDevitt, and Elizabeth Rafferty (Thomas), as well as a large and loving extended family of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Francis, and Catharine Walsh; her sister-in-law, Bonnie Walsh; her nephew, Patrick Lavin; and her niece, Jennifer (Walsh) Stuetz.

Born on October 21, 1948, in Ridley Park, Pennsylvania, Mary Ann was the daughter of the late Francis and Catharine Walsh. She was a proud graduate of the Class of 1966 at Bishop McDevitt High School in Wyncote. A staple of the Montgomery County community, she resided in Hatboro and Horsham for most of her life. Mary Ann dedicated over 50 years to the mortgage industry, where her expertise and kindness guided countless families through the milestone of purchasing their homes.

To her children, Mary Ann was a pillar of strength. She worked tirelessly to provide for her family, often working long hours and always coming home to ensure there was a hot dinner on the table. She was a constant presence in their lives, seamlessly transitioning from a loving teacher and supportive homework helper to a sports coach, mentor, and friend, and countless other crucial roles in her children’s lives. Mary Ann took immense joy in her role as an adoring grandmother and great-grandmother. In her quiet moments, she found joy in the simple pleasures of life: the pages of a good book, the growth of her garden, and, above all, time spent surrounded by her family. Mary Ann’s warmth, resilience, and unwavering love will be forever missed but never forgotten by her family, friends, and all those whose lives she touched.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday January 20, 2025, at St. Catherine of Sienna Catholic Church located at 321 Witmer Road, Horsham, PA 19044. Visitation will be 10:00-11:00 AM, with funeral mass at 11:00 AM, followed by interment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.

All expressions of sympathy, including flowers, cards, or honorary donations in Mary Ann’s memory are welcome. Donations in memory of Mary Ann may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. https://www.stjude.org/donate/

We will really miss Mary Ann! We loved chatting with her while she was out working in her front yard planting pretty flowers. She has always been so friendly and kind. She has often offered and given me flower seeds from her tall purple flowers. We will miss her very much. Please accept our sincere condolences. Fondly & with Sympathy, Joan & George Forgeng 166 W Lehman Ave.

As a surly child, i didn’t like many people in my earliest years. Aunt Maryann was one of the few individuals that i loved and opened up to from the beginning. My earliest memories include her along with my cousins, her wonderful children Jack and Lisa. Visiting her house was a joy and a safe space, the latter which she created time and time again for her grandchildren. You are so loved and will forever be missed, Aunt Maryann!

I remember Mary Ann walking us, Beth and I, to the bus stop on the first day of school. I have billions of memories of her. I practically lived at their house. Beth and I were and are BFF's. I have known all of them since I was 5 years old. God bless you, Mary Ann! I will see you when I cross over!!!!!
