Marina Lizardi

Marina Lizardi, born on March 20, 1985, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, passed away suddenly on Thursday, December 12, 2024, at the age of 39.

Marina was a devoted and loving mother to her three children, Dasani, Sean, and Man-Man, who were her pride and joy. She was the cherished daughter of Marybell and Modesto, a beloved sister to Richie (Madeline), Mark (Jessika), Rene (Laurie), and Lila, a wonderful titi to her nieces and nephews: Chris, Jameson, Adalynn, Jordan, Marlowe, and Audrey. Marina’s large and loving family included her Tio Rey, Titi’s Cookie and Diana, cousins Pearce (Nikki), and their three boys Pasquale, Joaquin, and Nicolo, as well as Lucas, and Rey Rey (Kerri).

Her family was a constant source of love and strength, and she shared a meaningful chapter of her life with her ex-partner, Virginio where she cherished the role of Me-ma.

Marina was a woman of remarkable qualities. She was intelligent, determined, and resilient, meeting life’s challenges with courage and grace. Her humor and playful spirit lit up every room, and her deep love for her children, extended family, and friends was evident in all she did.

An avid reader, Marina delighted in the world of books and found inspiration in art museums, where she explored beauty and creativity. She had a special love for tulips and orchids, tending to them with care and admiration. Marina also enjoyed moments of laughter and entertainment with her favorite show, Atlanta Housewives.

Marina’s warmth, laughter, and strength will forever be remembered by those who knew her. Her legacy lives on in her three children, the lives she touched, and the memories she created with her loved ones.

All are invited to Marina’s visitation and service on Friday, December 20th at McCafferty Funeral & Cremation Inc. 6711 Frankford Ave. Phila., PA 19135 (between Unruh & Knorr Sts.) from 9:30 am- 10:30 am. There will be a service in the funeral home at 10:30 am. In lieu of flowers, they encourage planting tulips or orchids to honor her memory and carry on her love for nature’s beauty.

Hey MiMa, I will forever remember our childhood. I have a scar on my left elbow from when you pushed me on the van when we were on our way back from Michigan. You were always fiery when we were kids,(and I was annoying) and that same fire you would have used to protect any one of your friends or family. Lucas loved you so much and admired your toughness, and when you became a mom your sweetness shined through more than anything else. We all had times as kids, Joey, Kev, Grace, Jas, etc etc. that we will all always remember I’m sure. We hung out from time to time in our 20s and as life goes on we all know our roots and you are one of the roots in my life forever. We all love you forever and our friendship will never fade, just our new girlfriends would have never let us all hang out anymore, 😂 . Nobody could understand how much we are all like siblings growing up in church and school together and the moments that hurt us all as children we were all there for eachother. Your spirit is forever alive in all of us, and your children could always reach out and they will be treated as our own. I’m so sorry we all lost touch, but you will never be forgotten. We Love you Marina. I wish you could have met my sons and daughters, but when they ask how daddy got the scar on his elbow I will tell them the story and many more about you and all of us and how kids with different parents truly were like brothers and sisters forever. God bless you. I will see you when I get there.

Marina,I can not believe you are gone, you had such a presence, walking into a room everyone would stop and stare. That was you bright, beautiful and made everyone around you feel like they could do anything. I wish you eternal rest, fly high.

Marina was the kind of person who could light up any room with her laughter and quick wit. At 39 years old, her passing comes far to soon, leaving a void that will never truly be filled. She was beautiful, both in and out, with a smile that could brighten the darkest of days and a heart that touched everyone lucky enough to know her. To me Marina was family- my girl,my child in every way that mattered. Watching her grow up was one of the greatest joys of my life, and hearing her call me " Pop" will always be cherished. She brought so much love, and humor into our lives, her presence was a constant reminder of how precious the bonds of family and friendship truly are. She had a way of making the ordinary feel extraordinary and always new how to find joy, even during the toughest moments. Her spirit was as beautiful as her smile and the memories of her humor, love and her light will remain with us always. She will be deeply missed by all of us who had the privilege of knowing her - family and friends and everyone fortunate enough to share a moment with her warmth and light. While our hearts are broken at her absence, we take comfort in the laughter and love she shared and the incredible mark she left in our lives. Marina may be gone from this earth, but her spirit will live on in the stories we tell, the laughter we we share, and the love we carry in her memory. Rest easy,my sweet girl. You were loved beyond words and you will always be missed. Pop,s and Marybell Melendez. You will always be loved !
