Joanne Joyce McDowell

Joanne Joyce McDowell (nee Hayes), of the Somerton section of Philadelphia, formerly Juniata, passed away on January 12, 2023, at age 72. Beloved wife of Anthony “Tony” McDowell. Loving mother of Jill Benson (Dave), Jason McDowell (Nicole), Kristy Ropars (Jason) and Jamie Breen (Kevin). Devoted grandmother of David, Julian, Lucas, Johnny, Hailey, Hannah, Harper, Kevin Jr., Ryder and Carter. Sadly missed by one brother, Rich “Skip” Hayes (Kim) as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. Family and friends are invited to attend her viewing and funeral on Saturday, January 21, in St. Anselm’s Roman Catholic Church (12670 Dunks Ferry Rd. Philadelphia, PA 19154).  There will be a viewing in the church from 9:30am – 11:30am followed by her funeral mass. In honor of Tony and Joanne’s 49th wedding anniversary which falls on January 26th, Joanne will be laid to rest with final prayers and burial at Washington Crossing National Cemetery (830 Highland Rd. Newtown, PA 18940) on Thursday, January 26. At this later date, please arrive at the cemetery gate by 12:45pm (follow the signs that read funeral processions form here).
