Jay Kyran Rhoads

Jay Kyran Rhoads “Jaybird”, of the Holmesburg section of Philadelphia, sadly passed away January 17, 2023, at the age of 67. Jay was the owner/operator of Rhoads Roofing for almost 40 years. He was a hard worker with a love for life. “Work hard, play hard” were words he lived by and he was a sucker for all things “fun!” He could always be counted on to lend a helping hand and those instances are countless. Jay fought numerous health battles over the last 17 years. Despite his circumstances he never lost his sense of humor. Throughout his entire journey, when he was up for it, he would always find ways to crack jokes and pull small pranks on anyone he could. His ability to make us smile and laugh will be missed. Jay was the son of the late Franklin Rhoads and Joan Kammeradd. Loving father of Randy Rhoads (Tina), Monica Conte (Anthony), Anthony Gillespie and Harley Rhoads. Cherished grandfather of Joseph Conte, James Conte, Anthony Conte, Connie Conte, Joseph Rhoads, Dominic Rhoads and Giada Rhoads. Beloved brother of Kim Rhoads (Stephen), Dorise Rhoads, Francis Rhoads and the late Franklin C. Rhoads “Chuck.” He is also survived by many adoring nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. All are invited to gather, remember and celebrate Jay’s life on Wednesday January 25th at McCafferty Funeral & Cremation Inc. 6711 Frankford Ave. Phila., PA 19135 (between Unruh & Knorr Sts.) You may visit and comfort Jay’s family during his visitation from 9:30AM-11:00AM. There will be a prayer service in the funeral home at 11:00AM.
