James Edmund Byrne

James Edmund Byrne, of Northeast Philadelphia, passed away February 12th, 2022, at the age of 88. Son of the late William and Mary Byrne. Beloved brother of William Byrne (the late Jean), the late Patrick Byrne (Gertrude) the late Thomas Byrne (Francilla) and the late Joseph Byrne. He is also survived by nine nieces and nephews and 20 great-nieces and great-nephews. He is predeceased by one niece and one great-nephew. Jim will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. His family will miss his gentle spirit, his kindness, and his easy-going nature. When kids were around you could always find Uncle Jim either on the floor playing matchbox cars, reading someone their favorite story for the 100th time or teaching them to play cards. Family and friends are invited to gather, remember and celebrate Jim’s life on Saturday, February 19th, at St. Dominic’s RC Church (8504 Frankford Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19136).  You may visit and comfort the Byrne family during his viewing from 10:00 am – 11:00 am in the Church. There will be a Funeral Mass at 11:00 am with burial to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Jim’s memory to either St. Dominic’s Church or to Holy Redeemer Homecare and Hospice.
