Elizabeth “Betty” Whelan, passed away on January 9th, 2024. Betty was born in Philadelphia, PA to the late Peter Schad and Catherine (Lamping) Schad. A long-term resident of the Mayfair section of Philadelphia, Betty was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Thomas, her son, Gregory and his wife, Colleen. She is survived by her sons, Lawrence (Mary) and Mark (Kathleen), her sister, Margaret (the late Harry) Helm, nine grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. A caring wife, mother, and grandmother, Betty’s presence at family events brought joy and love to all.
Relatives and friends are invited to Betty’s visitation on Monday, January 22nd, 2024, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of her funeral mass at 10:30 a.m. at St. Timothy Catholic Church, 3001 Levick St, Philadelphia, PA 19149. Interment will be held in the future at the family’s convenience.
