Edward Raymond Fisher
October 25, 1955 – August 1, 2023

Edward “Ed” Raymond Fisher, a beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend peacefully passed away on August 1, 2023, at the age of 67. He was born on October 25, 1955, in Philadelphia to Hendrick and Maryann (Zgoda) Fisher. His life was marked by a commitment to service, a strong work ethic, and a deep love for his family. He graduated from Frankford High School in 1974 and worked at Dietz and Watson for several years before joining the Philadelphia Prison System as a correctional officer. He served with pride and distinction for 25 years, rising to the rank of captain before retiring in 2014. His unwavering dedication and leadership left an indelible mark on the PPS institution and its staff that will never be forgotten. Ed is survived by his wife, Mary (Johnson) Fisher of Philadelphia; a daughter, Elisa Leasure of Steilacoom, Washington; a son, Edward Neafsey, of Philadelphia; two stepsons, Andrew Davis of Pittsburgh and Myles Davis of Drexel Hill; a brother, Henry; nine grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers William and Robert, and his sister Maryann. His impact on his family, colleagues, and community will be remembered with fondness and admiration. His legacy of dedication, compassion, and strength will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate to have known him. A memorial service to celebrate Ed’s life will be held this fall.
