Edward F. Massara
Edward F. “Ed” Massara
February 22, 1932 – January 27, 2026
Ed Massara passed away peacefully after living a long, full and deeply loved life. He was 93 years old.
Ed was predeceased by his parents, Anthony and Marie (Lynch) Massara and his sister Claire (Massara) Yeager.
Ed is survived by his beloved wife of more than 70 years, Leona (Lascoskie) Massara and by his devoted children; Linda (Brett Cameron) Galloway; Michelle (David) Ulrich; and Edward (Jill) Massara. He was a proud grandfather to Michael (Sandy) Galloway; Danielle (Daniel) O’Driscoll; Brandon (Jesa) Galloway; Brianna (Steven) Harrell; Christopher (Elise) Galloway; Ted (Jessica) Massara; Jessica (Thomas) Lepp and James (Lily) Massara. He was a cherished great grandfather to Michael, Patrick, Brynn, Shannon, Julian, AJ, Mariella, Daniel, Lennon, Van, Finn, Kai, Dawson, Lia, Julia, Griffin and Dominic.
A lifelong Philadelphian, Ed grew up in Oxford Circle, where he met the love of his life, Leona, and formed many lifelong friendships. He spent much of his adulthood in Wissinoming and his golden years in Rhawnhurst. He was a proud graduate of St. Martin of Tours Grade School and North Catholic High School.
After high school, Ed followed in his father’s footsteps in the printing industry where he spent more than 50 years working for Columbia Printing and Franz Lithographic. He took great pride in his work ethic and dedication to his family.
Ed was a passionate Philadelphia sports fan, especially the Eagles, Phillies and Flyers. In his younger years he loved playing softball and later found joy in playing tennis. He also loved watching Action News, spending time at the Jersey shore, tending to and relaxing by his above ground pool, and most of all being with his family.
The Massara home on Afton Street was the heart of many picnics, parties, family get togethers and just plain afternoons by the pool. Ed was happiest when surrounded by those he loved, and his and Leona’s home was always open to family and friends. No strangers, only friends they hadn’t met.
Funeral Services and a mass of Christian burial will be scheduled at a later date. To honor Ed, the family requests donations be made to The Love from Lennon Foundation (Venmo – @BJAL9 or PAYPAL – lovefromlennon@gmail.com)

RIP, Ed you were a great person, and the best neighbor. My fondest memories are of you sitting on your porch ( we shared a porch) listening to baseball and hockey on your transistor radio. My deepest sympathy to your loved one’s.

Though not related by blood, Dad always treated me as "one of his own". The support, the laughter, the love was genuine. He wasn't my biological father, but was always "Dad" to me. He will be greatly missed.

Ed was the last link to my father, who ran Colombia Printing many years ago. When I worked there he was always friendly and had a smile on his face. My father said he was an invaluable employee. He was a good man.
