Dolores Barbara Bregenzer
Dolores Barbara Bregenzer, affectionately known to many as “Big Dee,” a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on December 11, 2025, at the age of 69. She was surrounded by her devoted family in her home.
Born on January 18, 1956, in Philadelphia, Dolores was the daughter of the late Charles and Marie Myers. She was raised in the Wissinoming neighborhood and graduated from St. Hubert’s Catholic High School in 1974.
Throughout her remarkable life, Dolores was a source of unwavering love, strength, and guidance to her family and extensive circle of friends. She married Robert Bregenzer on June 14, 1975, and they recently commemorated their Golden Anniversary—fifty years of enduring partnership and shared joy. Together, they cultivated a home filled with love and cherished memories while raising four children: Megan (Donovan) Anglin, Robert (Lisa) Bregenzer, Michelle (Bill) Helm, and Steven Bregenzer, all of whom remain profoundly grateful for her boundless affection and support.
Dolores embraced several professional roles after her initial vocation as a dedicated homemaker. Her career path included positions as a magazine representative at Chase Levy, a nursing assistant at Delaware County Hospital, and she ultimately concluded her professional journey in May 2025, having retired from Mayfair Elementary School where she assisted children in the classroom.
Dolores possessed a vibrant spirit and had a passion for family vacations at the Jersey Shore, camping, and dancing. Above all, she treasured time spent with her loved ones. She was renowned for hosting spirited gatherings that included dancing, singing, and an open-door policy at her home, making everyone feel welcome. Her well-known phrases, “it’s 5 o’clock somewhere” and “Sunday Funday,” will always evoke fond memories for those who knew her best. She will be remembered for her intrinsic kindness and generosity.
In addition to her children, Dolores leaves behind her seven grandchildren—Donovan, Avery, Steven, Justin, Billy, Jack, and Peyton—as well as numerous other relatives and friends whose lives were enriched by her warmth and kindness.
A funeral service to honor and celebrate Dolores’s life will be held at St. Jerome Church, located at 8100 Colfax Street, Philadelphia, PA, on Friday, December 19, 2025. A viewing will commence at 10:00 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 a.m. Family and friends are invited to attend and pay their respects.

Dee was my first friend at Mayfair School, she befriended me on my first day of work there and showed me the ropes. We had a great time working together. We worked the same hours for 7 years, and during that time we became good friends, confiding in each our joys and sorrows. I will miss her dearly. She was a wonderful person. I hope she knew how much I cherished our friendship.
