Bernard Beck
Beck, Bernard E, age 85, of Northeast Philadelphia, passed away peacefully on January 10, 2025, surrounded by his family.
Beloved Husband of 57 years to Margaret A (Hoffman), Devoted Father to Bernie, Michael (Tina) Beck and Debbie McDevitt (Shaun) and loving, proud Grandfather of Lauren, Hannah, Erin, Jessica and Kevin Beck and Michael, Maggie and Delaney McDevitt. Bernie was a proud graduate of Roman Catholic High School and Lasalle University and active member of Saint Timothy’s Roman Catholic Church for many years. He proudly served in the US AirForce Army Reserve Corp. He spent the majority of his career as a dedicated employee of over 40 years to the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia. He was an adjunct professor of the American Institute of Banking. He enjoyed his time as a youth sports coach and Cub Scouts leader for his sons and their friends. His hobbies included softball, bowling, bike riding, community theater, traveling and spending time with his beautiful grandchildren. He was blessed to have a strong extended family and his “chosen” family of lifelong friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to join us to celebrate Bernie’s life on Friday, January 17th at Saint Katherine of Siena Catholic Church, 9700 Frankford Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19114. Visitation with the family will be from 9:30 to 11 am with Funeral Mass to follow at 11:00 am. Interment will be held at Hillside Cemetery.
His legacy will live on in the community of loved ones he brought together throughout his life who share this unique bond. The love, kindness and compassion of this community as well as his deep faith are what gave him his purpose and joy.
In lieu of flowers, please make an anonymous donation to one of his favorite charities such as Roman Catholic High School or the American Cancer Society and take the time to reconnect with an old friend and have a toast in his memory.

We came to Bernie’s viewing by accident. We have a family relative that passed away and the viewing was at the same time 1/10 a mile further down the road. We waited in line for awhile and were impressed by the number of people he touched. We wanted to spend some time to learn about Bernies life since we paid respects to him. We are very sorry for his loss.

A good and decent man who left his mark on everyone he came in contact with. Much love and prayers to Aunt Peg and the entire family. This world is a little less stronger without Bernie in it.

Rest in peace Bernie, thinking of first time i met him. Patti took me to joanies house to meet the hoffman family. Well i walked in to meet frank, uncle bill,& bernie among other family, what a crew! Bernie had me take my shoes off, because he said Patti couldn,t date anyone who had wholes in his socks. 47 years later still makes me laugh. And no i didn,t have wholes in my socks that night. He was a great guy & will be missed by all that knew him

Bernie was a great family man, boss and friend. It is rare when one develops a personal relationship with their boss, and I’m not sure why we connected, but our relationship lasted nearly 50 years. I will miss our conversations and the birthday cards he would send each year. To the family, please know that only time will heal your pain, and I wish you peace and blessings in the years to come.

Bernie was a wonderful friend. He loved life and his family and friends. It was a joy to know him and he will be truly missed.
Bernie always called me Pita and We always went back and forth. Our family trips to Spring Gulch. He got all of us a free weekend at Hershey in the Pocono mts. The one that put me in a state which I was always in those days he was in charge pine wood derby a neighbor always did the boys cars always I made sure they were great. Night of derby all excited we go to run Chris’s car didn’t fit so he says can’t run or cut back of car off. I will never forget rules are rules my friend cut my son’s car off to fit in the box. The trams at that time that I still remember that. Button line he was a man who lived his life what’s right is right. Kids didn’t care I got over it he was one of our best friend. I’m so glad he was in our lives. You guys were lucky and blessed he was your Dad.❤️❤️❤️
