August Demore “Gus”

August J. Demore, “Gus”, of the Mayfair section of Philadelphia, passed away peacefully on January 21, 2022 at age 96 from natural causes. Married to the late Elizabeth Kennedy Demore for seventy years, they had six children; Gary, Patrick, Mary, Francine and the late Joel and Paula. A devoted brother of Jean and Patricia as well as the late Josephine, Robert “Bob”, John “Jack” and Lorette. He also left behind seven grandchildren; Eric, Gary Jr., Marcus, Lucas, Carson, Andrew & Michael and three great-grandchildren; Sarah, Andrew and Sofia. Gus was a World War II and Korean War veteran, who served in the Pacific Campaign, including the Battle of Iwo Jima.  He served in action with distinction, as a Marine Staff Sergeant, between 1943-1951, with principal duties as an aircraft mechanic.  Gus had a giving soul and a gentle heart. There was never a person who did not enjoy his kindness, humor, laughter, and infectious smile. Family and friends are invited to gather, remember, and celebrate Gus’s life on Friday February 18th at St. Timothy’s R.C. Church (3001 Levick St. Phila. PA 19149). You may visit and comfort the Demore family during the visitation from 9:30AM-10:30AM in the church. There will be a Funeral Mass at 10:30AM with burial to follow at Magnolia Cemetery.
