Dorothy Ann Stewart

June 17, 1956 – November 5, 2026

Dorothy Ann Stewart, known to so many as Dot or Dotty, passed away on November 5, 2026, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was 70 years old.

Dot was born on June 17, 1956, in Philadelphia, the daughter of John Pierson and Alice Curl. She had a heart that was always rooted in the people she loved.

Dot was the beloved wife of the late Joseph Patrick Stewart. She was a devoted mother to her two sons, Joseph P. Stewart Jr. and Timothy J. Stewart, and a loving mother-in-law to Shannon Stewart.

Her greatest pride and joy was her family. She was a proud grandmother to Jessica Stewart, Briana Stewart, Joseph Stewart, and Nicholas Rushworth (grandson-in-law) and an adoring great-grandmother to Willow Rushworth and Kennedy Rushworth. She also leaves behind her beloved siblings, Janette, Anita, Jack, Karen, Eric, and Dan, along with many extended family members and dear friends who will miss her tremendously.

Dot was someone who truly knew how to live life. She loved to travel and continued exploring the world for as long as she possibly could. Whether it was a new destination or a concert she couldn’t wait to attend, she never wanted to miss an opportunity to make another memory. She loved experiencing life, making memories, and enjoying the things that brought her happiness.

Above all, Dot cherished her family and her close friendships. The people in her life meant everything to her, and the love she shared with them will continue to live on through the memories, stories, and moments they hold so close.

Dot passed peacefully, surrounded by the family she loved so dearly. Though her absence leaves an unimaginable hole in the hearts of those who knew and loved her, they find comfort in knowing she is finally at peace.

She will be loved, missed, and remembered always.

Family and friends are invited to attend her viewing and funeral on Monday November 16th at McCafferty Funeral & Cremation Inc. 6711 Frankford Ave. (between Unruh & Knorr sts.) You may visit and comfort Dorothy’s family from 9:30 am – 11:00 am. There will be a prayer service starting at 11:00 am. Further arrangements will be held at the convenience of her family.

My fondest memory of Dot is that she Loved family and family togetherness. Even though as an Aunt, we were only 8 years in difference. Therefore, I remember though childhood and adulthood the light she brought with family and friends. Not to say she was nosey, but if I forgot a phone number or address Dot always had updated information. You can say she was part of the glue that the family depended on along with others. These days lately have loosened the glue with all the lose. This one is one of the strongest adhesive that lost a battle. Love and Already miss you Aunt Dot.
