Your Trusted Choice for Funeral Homes in Torresdale
Every life deserves a farewell that feels true to the person you knew, and your family deserves the time and space to shape it. At McCafferty Funeral & Cremation, five generations of our family have helped people do just that, with our own on-site crematory close at hand. As one of the most respected funeral homes in Torresdale, we’ll move at your pace. Call whenever you’re ready.
Our Team
It helps to know who’ll be beside you before you ever walk through the door. Families who choose us as their funeral home in Torresdale work directly with Mark and his daughter, Koryn, from the first arrangement meeting through the service. Whether you live off Grant Avenue near the river or closer to Pennypack Park, you’ll see the same familiar faces at every step.

Mark C. McCafferty, F.D., Supervisor
Mark owns our funeral home and serves as supervising funeral director. He sits down with families to talk through their options, then follows through by being there for the service itself. That continuity means you won't find yourself explaining your wishes to someone new halfway through.

Koryn McCafferty, F.D.
As Mark's daughter and a licensed funeral director, Koryn carries our family's work forward. She shares in leading arrangement meetings and is present during services, so your family has a second familiar person to turn to with a question, a last-minute change, or just a quiet word when you need one.
Our Services
Every family comes to us with its own traditions and wishes, and the right farewell looks different for each one. Some want a funeral Mass at their parish followed by burial, while others prefer a small gathering after cremation. We’ll lay out your options plainly and help you put together a service that fits the person you’re honoring.
Funeral Services
A traditional funeral gives everyone who loved the person a chance to gather, share stories, and say goodbye together. We take care of the viewing, the casket, and the burial arrangements, and we coordinate with the cemetery your family has chosen. If you’re weighing Torresdale funeral homes, we’re glad to walk through costs and options before you decide anything.
Cremation Services
Choosing cremation still leaves room for a meaningful goodbye. Families can hold a viewing first, gather for a memorial afterward, or keep things simple with direct cremation. Because our crematory is right on-site, your loved one stays in our care throughout. There’s a lot to think through when planning a cremation, and we’ll go over each piece with you.
Funeral Preplanning
Families often feel real relief when a parent has already made their wishes known. Preplanning lets you choose the type of service, the readings, and the smaller details ahead of time, so your children aren’t left guessing during a hard week. Of all the reasons to pre-arrange your funeral, that peace of mind for the people you love matters most.
Veteran Services
Honoring someone’s military service is something we take seriously. We’ll help your family with the steps involved in requesting the benefits your loved one earned, and we’ll make sure their service is recognized during the farewell in a way that feels fitting to you.
Church Viewings and Memorials
For many families here, faith sits at the center of a goodbye. We’re happy to work with your parish, whether that’s a funeral Mass at St. Katherine of Siena or a service at All Saints’ on Frankford Avenue. We can also arrange the viewing at the church itself, so everyone gathers in one place before the service begins.
Virtual Arrangements
Coming in to sit down isn’t always possible, especially when family is spread across different states. We can work through arrangements with you remotely, so you can make decisions from home and keep relatives in the loop without anyone needing to travel first.
Why Choose McCafferty as Your Funeral Home in Torresdale?
Choosing who’ll care for someone you love is personal, and it’s fair to ask questions first. Knowing what to look for when choosing a funeral home makes that choice a little clearer. Here’s what Torresdale families can count on with us.
Family-Owned Since 1970
It’s reassuring when the people helping you have long roots nearby. Our family opened this funeral home on Frankford Avenue in December 1970, on the same road that runs north into Torresdale. Today, Mark and Lisa McCafferty run it hands-on, with their daughter Koryn as our fifth generation.
Philadelphia's Only On-Site Crematory
Knowing exactly where your loved one is can bring real peace of mind. Since May 2018, we’ve had a crematory right on our premises, and we’re the only funeral home in Philadelphia that does. That means cremation takes place here, under our own roof, rather than somewhere else.
Upfront Pricing
Money is often the hardest thing to bring up, so we keep our prices out in the open. Our cremation packages are listed right on our website, from direct cremation to a full viewing and cremation, so you can compare options at home before you ever pick up the phone.
Torresdale Funeral Home FAQs
Questions tend to pile up after a death, and some of them feel hard to say out loud. Below are straightforward answers to the ones families often bring to us. If yours isn’t here, give us a call and we’ll talk it through together.
What Should I Do First When Someone Passes Away?
Give us a call. Our staff will arrange to bring your loved one into our care, whether from a hospital, the medical examiner, a nursing home, hospice, or home. From there, Mark or Koryn will sit down with your family and walk through each decision with you, one at a time.
How Soon Do We Need to Make Arrangements?
The only thing that needs to happen right away is a phone call, so we can bring your loved one into our care. The rest, like choosing burial or cremation and setting a service date, gets worked out together in your arrangement meeting, around your church’s and cemetery’s availability.
How Much Does a Funeral Cost in Torresdale?
Traditional burial with us starts at $6,400. That includes transfer, embalming, a casket in your choice of four colors, memorial cards, a digital death notice, filing the death certificate and getting copies, staff for the funeral, and the hearse procession to the cemetery. We’ll walk through any additions with you.
How Much Does Cremation Cost in Torresdale?
Our cremation prices are posted right on our website. Direct cremation, with no viewing or service, is $1,295. Cremation with a memorial service is $3,825, and a viewing followed by cremation is $4,900. Deaths at a nursing home, hospice facility, or residence carry additional fees.
Is a Casket Required for Cremation?
Not one you have to buy. If you’d like a viewing before cremation, our Viewing and Cremation service includes a rental casket, so your loved one can be present without that added expense. Afterward, you can choose an urn from our selection room or catalogs, and we’ll explain the options.
Which Cemeteries Do You Serve Near Torresdale?
Two of the closest are Resurrection Cemetery on Hulmeville Road, just over the line in Bensalem, and Forest Hills Cemetery on Byberry Road. If your family already has a plot somewhere else, just let us know, and we’ll handle the arrangements and the procession to that cemetery.
Can You Coordinate a Service at Our Parish or Church?
Yes. Any of our services can be held at your church, whether that’s a funeral Mass at your parish on Frankford Avenue or a memorial service elsewhere in the Far Northeast. Our staff will travel wherever you need us. Church services carry additional fees, and we’ll review those with you upfront.
Can I Plan My Own Arrangements in Advance?
Yes, and many people find it a real comfort. You can sit down with us ahead of time to decide on burial or cremation, the type of service, and the details that matter most to you. Your family won’t have to guess later. Call whenever you’d like to schedule a consultation.
We're Here When You Need Us
