Richard W. Dean

On October 2, 2026, with his family by his side and 70s rock playing in the background, Richard W. Dean of Bucks County, Pennsylvania, passed away at age 59.

Rich was the father of Amanda, Colleen, and Richard Dean, son of Linda Margaret Dean-Bozena (Bell) and the late Richard Albert Dean, Husband to Kathleen Dean (Sheahan), and uncle, nephew, cousin, a dearest friend to many more. Rich grew up in the Drexelwood section of Levittown, PA, alongside many aunts, uncles, cousins, and close friends.

He attended high school at Bishop Egan Catholic High School, where he met many of the best friends his still has today. Rich made a name for himself a wrestling champion during his high school years before graduating in 1985. He attended West Chester University where he played rugby, was the life of every party, and eventually met his future wife, Kathy. In 1989, he graduated with a B.S. in Criminal Justice, and went on to complete his Masters in Business Administration. In 1992, Rich and Kathy married on a beautiful day at St. Bartholomew’s Church in Philadelphia, PA.

Rich spent his years working in various sectors of the City of Philadelphia. Graduating from college, he worked as an inspector for L&I, then moved on to work under the administration of Philadelphia Mayor Ed Rendell in the Managing Director’s office. In 2000, Rich began work as an Electrical Inspector and co-founded United Inspection Agency, which he share ownership in for nearly twenty years. Rich was proud of his work, especially his Lincoln Financial Field project and could draw you a map of the entire City of Philadelphia, just from memory.

As proud as he was of his work, Rich was even more proud of his family. From coaching Colleen’s soccer and Richard’s baseball teams, to visiting Amanda out in Pittsburgh, Rich’s greatest joy was his children. As a season ticket holder and the Phillies’ biggest fan, he often picked the kids up early from school to drive them down for afternoon games at Citizens Bank Park. He loved family beach days, always until the sun had set. He loved chocolate, and ice cream, horse races and of course, golf. Rich was a hobbyist at heart, but his most favorite hobby of all was simply sitting at a bar, having a drink with the people he loved most.

Family and friends are invited to attend Richard’s visitation and funeral on Friday October 9th, at St. Christopher’s Roman Catholic Church 13301 Proctor Rd, Phila., PA 19116. You may visit and comfort Richard’s  family from 10:00 am – 11: 30 am. There will be a funeral mass starting at 11:30 am. Further arrangements will be held at the convenience of the family.

I am so sad to hear about Richards passing. I knew him at Egan. He was a great guy. I wish his family the best in this troubled time. May god help you in this time of sorrow. Dan caruso

At some point in your life you start to read obituaries. Rarely do they capture the person completely because they simply cannot. In a few brief words even a stranger would know this man having read this - and Rich never met a stranger - to him we were all just future friends. We met at 15 yrs old and spoke monthly the rest of our days. That about says it all. We laughed while telling all the tales to each other this summer once again on the beach. But I have great news - Rich isn’t gone - he just went on to meet another friend. Peace my brother.
