John J. Murray “Jack”

John J. Murray (Jack), beloved husband of Mary Ann Murray (née Gawinowicz), father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on July 29, 2025, at the age of 84. Born and raised in Germantown, Jack was the beloved son of the late Daniel and Anne Murray and was preceded in death by his five siblings—two brothers and three sisters. Jack shared 58 beautiful years of marriage with his devoted wife, Mary Ann, whom he adoringly called “the Chief.” Together, they built a life filled with joy, raising five children: Stacey (Ken Magrann), Jack (Susan), Kelly (Jim Moy), Kim (Ed McKenna), and Brian (Meredith). Jack’s legacy continues through his eleven grandchildren—Laura (Mercedes), Jessica, Shane, Samantha, Jack, Ryan, Kyle, Taylor, Luke, Ashley, and Sarah—and his great-
grandchildren: Hunter, Avianna, and Baby Boy Perez.
Jack worked as a Supervisor at Philadelphia Gear Works for 30 years before spending another decade working for SEPTA. Known for his warm heart and playful spirit, Jack loved spending time with his family and was proud to brag about his children and grandchildren. He was known for forgetting everyone’s name and used humorous nicknames — “Gypsy,” “Big Time,” “Little Time,” and “Fats”—all given with love. His famous saying, “I may not have a lot of money, but I am a very rich man because of my family,” truly reflected the depth of his love and pride for his family. His presence will be deeply missed, but his love lives on in the hearts of all he touched. Family and friends are invited to attend his visitation and funeral on Monday, August 4th at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 5194 Cold Spring Creamery Rd. Doylestown, PA 18902. You may visit and comfort Jack’s family from 9:30 am – 10:30 am in church. There will be a funeral mass at 10:30 am. Further arrangements will be held at the convenience of the family.  In Lieu of flowers, please make donations in Jack’s memory to St. Jude Children Research
Hospital

George Mc Cartin.

Jack was a great guy, and a great family man.

“Hello young lady” is what he always greeted me with. My sisters married his sons and there wasn’t another for me but he always made me feel like part of his family. Will miss you at family parties!
