Uzziel “Flint” Sanchez
March 23, 1953 – May 15, 2025
Philadelphia, PA
Uzziel Sanchez, affectionately known as “Flint,” passed away peacefully on May 15, 2025, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He was 72 years old.
Born in New York on March 23, 1953, Flint built a life defined by hard work, faith, and unmistakable style. A skilled laborer by trade, he spent most of his career working in mattress factories, where he was known for his strong hands, focused work ethic, and quiet dedication.
But Flint was much more than his work — he was a man of presence. A classic 70s soul with unmatched swag, Flint dressed to the nines every chance he got. Whether in his signature Kangol hats or with a polished pair of shoes, he walked with confidence, dressed with intention, and inspired admiration wherever he went.
He was a collector of die-cast classic cars, a lover of music, and a faithful member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. His spirit was magnetic — when Flint entered a room, you felt it. He had a light that made people smile, think, and feel seen.
Mr. Flint encouraged others to work hard and chase their dreams, never giving up, no matter the odds. He lived his life as a testament to resilience, integrity, and quiet generosity. He was known for his tough love and soft heart. The $5 in his pocket was yours if you needed it. The food on his plate was yours if you were hungry.
He is survived by his four children — Felix, Abigail, Idanelis, and Abby; nine grandchildren; five siblings — Abby, Matt, Hulda, Enid, and Elvis; and a large, loving family of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who were like family.
Uzziel will be remembered for his faith, his fire, and his dapper soul. His light will be missed, but never forgotten.
All are invited to Uzziel’s visitation and service on Tuesday, June 3rd at McCafferty Funeral & Cremation Inc. 6711 Frankford Ave. Phila., PA 19135 (between Unruh & Knorr Sts.) from 10:00 am- 11:00 am. There will be a service in the funeral home at 11:00 am. Burial to follow in Oakland Cemetery.
