Charles J. Bastian Jr.
Charles J. Bastian Jr., of the Mayfair section of Philadelphia, sadly passed away on April 29, 2025, at the age of 77.
He was predeceased by his parents, Charles J. Bastian Sr. and Elise Bastian (née Ware), and his sister, Sue Ann Golin (Jerry).
Charles is survived by his beloved wife, Margaret Bastian (née Sosna), and his loving daughters, Deborah Jordan and Kimberly Primavera (Matthew). He was the cherished Pop Pop of Joseph Jordan, Jason Jordan Jr., and Matthew Primavera Jr. He is also survived by his sister, Doris Rhein (the late Frank), as well as many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and extended family members.
Charles proudly served in the United States Army and was a devoted member of the B.P.O.E., where he held the distinguished title of Past Exalted Ruler. A man of deep faith, he was a longtime and active member of St. Timothy’s Church, where he served faithfully as both an usher and a Eucharistic minister.
All are invited to attend Charles’ viewing Monday night, May 12th, from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM at McCafferty Funeral & Cremation Inc., 6711 Frankford Avenue, Philadelphia, PA. (between Unruh & Knorr Sts.) There will be a second viewing on Tuesday morning, May 13th, from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM at St. Timothy’s Roman Catholic Church (3001 Levick Street, Philadelphia, PA, 19149). There will be a funeral mass at 10:30 am.
Interment to follow at Sunset Memorial Park, with military funeral honors.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Charles’s memory may be made to Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (PanCAN).

Charles was always happy to greet everyone at St. Tim's before Mass started. He was cherrful and friendly. He always made it to the 9:15 Mass with his lovely wife, Marge, who was always very pleasant and friendly. He will be missed! May God rest his soul!
