Paulette Glassheim

Paulette Glassheim, a devoted mother and grandmother, passed away at the age of 55 after a courageous seven-year battle with breast cancer. Born in North Carolina, Paulette experienced a rich tapestry of life, moving frequently during her childhood, including a cherished time in Germany due to her father’s military service.

Paulette’s passion for beauty was evident in everything she did. After graduating from cosmetology school, she dedicated herself to making the world more beautiful, whether through her artistry in hair and makeup or her keen eye for interior design. She spent many years in retail, ultimately rising to the position of assistant manager at a popular department store, where her warmth and leadership touched the lives of her colleagues and customers alike.

As a mother to Elyssa and Brenna, Paulette instilled a love of reading and creativity in her daughters. Her pride grew with the addition of her grandson, Rory, whose laughter brought immense joy to her life.

Throughout her treatment, Paulette brought a unique liveliness to the chemotherapy ward, where nurses and fellow patients were always excited to see her. Her spirit and resilience shone brightly, inspiring all who knew her with her unwavering strength and grace.

Paulette is survived by her two daughters, Elyssa and Brenna, her grandson Rory, and a loving network of family and friends. Her legacy of beauty, love, and compassion will continue to resonate in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her.

A celebration of her life will be held at a later date, and details will be shared with friends and family in advance.

I am Paulette’s ex husband, but we stayed in communications for all dozen years beyond our 22-yr marriage and was so sad at the news as I helped my 2 daughters during the most difficult final 10’days of her 7 1/2 year long fight and kept a 4-way group text message since the birth of Rory our first and only grandchild❤️. My memories will start with our meeting story on 7/23/1987 thru our wedding day 4/16/1989 and the births of our beloved girls in 1993 and 1997. She cut my hair for 20 years and I’ll never forget our talks during those! We built our one and only build out of a brand new home in Fresno, CA in 1993! Oh my was she ever so joyful (& good!) at planning and working all of that! And wow what a great cook was Paulette - I will alwqys remember her many dozen+ Thanksgiving dinner menus and Passover Seders most of all! We shared so many road and day trips as well as even short air flight trips when the girls were very little and she often during this last dozen years, spoke warmly to me about the things she remembers and her hopes that our daughters can recall as much of all we did to show everybody about the sights we all got to see and the things we got to enjoy and revel in doing - so so many would she name! Her mind always stayed sharp and so informed including a plethora of online reading relating to current events! Lastly it was always nice when she thoughtfully thanked me for helping her at the start of her diagnosis in 2017 as well as many times literally thanking me for teaching her all about personal finance etc and taking such pride in being such a good custodian of her resources often mentioning how she showed such growth especially after our marriage when she learned to do all on her own so swiftly and ably learning and gaining such good experience as she went along - I always thought that was so nice of her to write and say such to me - we often joked about being our favorite ex-spouses (we were each other’s only ones of course;) Of course I will be unable to ever forget this special woman who entered my life over 35 years ago in Radcliff, KY just outside Ft Knox, and shared 22 years through major stops in Kentucky, Colorado, multiple parts of California, Wisconsin, and all the road moving trips in between Particularly memorable was the full family 10-state, 8-state Capitol, and 4-National Park road trip during our 13-day/2-vehicle caravan road trip from Fresno, CA to Oshkosh, WI in August, 2005! Oh my SUCH memories all! Rest in Peace Paulette - you’ve made an outsized impact on the world in your time ❤️
