Poppy was so kind and generous! He had a huge heart...room for everyone! He was so hilariously funny and I loved all the times I had a chance to spend with him over the years just laughing it up over something/anything! Just very recently we were cracking up over some old army stories and then he told me and that his buddies called him Theo not Ted so I started calling him Poppy Theo. He got a kick out of that. He was the greatest grandfather to my three sons and I loved the special individual bond he had with each of them! love ya and miss you much!

By the time I was introduced to Pop, I had already lost my grandparents. From the moment I met Pop he accepted and treated me just like another grandkid. Pop was so funny, and caring. He never let us leave without telling us he loved us. I will always remember his smiling face playing Mexican train dominoes. ❤️

I got my first job at age 16 and I remember Pop made such a big deal about it and wanted to take me out to dinner and congratulate me. I said, “Pop, it’s not that big of a deal. It’s just a dinky first job making minimum wage, no reason to celebrate” and he replied to me “Nonsense! It doesn’t matter what you do for work, you could have a job shoveling sh*t, as long as you be the best damn sh*t shoveler you can be, I will be proud of you.” Those words always resonated with me and I carry them with me to this day. Pop was always so supportive, loving and caring and that is how he will be remembered by me.
