Sean McGerry

Sean P. McGerry, age 40
suddenly passed away on July 16, 2025. The beloved youngest sibling in the McGerry family and a proud uncle to his five nephews and one niece.

Sean had the biggest heart, always putting others before himself and loved more deeply and generously than most. Sean was the kind of person who gave without expecting anything in return, and his selfless love left a mark on everyone he met.

To know Sean was to know a true ‘Judge Guy’ – a man of quiet strength, deep kindness, and striving to do good each day.

After the passing of his mother, Sean turned to art as a source of comfort and healing. He found peace in drawing and took great joy in creating pieces for family and friends. Whether it was a sketch, a handmade card, or a thoughtful design, Sean poured his heart into every creation and loved sharing his progress with those he cared about. His artwork became another way he showed his love—a quiet, meaningful extension of his generous spirit.

Sean is survived by his loving siblings Michael (Jeanne), Maureen, and Kevin (Nicole); his adored nephews Michael, Thomas, Joseph, Kevin, and Kyle; and his treasured niece, Katy. He will also be deeply missed by his extended family, and countless friends.

There’s comfort in knowing Sean has been welcomed home by his beloved parents, Mike and Mary, in a place of peace and love.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his visitation and funeral on Thursday, July 24, from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at McCafferty Funeral & Cremation Inc. 6711 Frankford Ave. There will be a prayer service at 11:00am with burial to follow in Our Lady of Grace Cemetery

In lieu of flowers, donations in Sean’s memory may be made to the Dominic Vinciguerra memorial foundation via Venmo @BriVinciguerra.

I met Sean 5 years ago working at Amazon, and worked with him very closely throughout the years. Sean was a person whose dedication, creativity, and kindness left a lasting impression on everyone who had the privilege of working with him. Sean was always thinking ahead and always sharing ideas on how to make things better- not just for himself, but for his entire team. Outside of talking about work, Sean and I always talked about his passion for art. I enjoyed hearing about the new projects he was working on and looked forward to checking in weekly on his progress. His Philadelphia sports art was some of my favorite! Sean would always tell me about the plans he had coming up with his family, especially his niece and nephews, and I could tell they brought him so much joy. Sean, your absence is felt deeply at Amazon. Rest in Peace.

To Sean’s family I offer my deepest condolences. He was a good friend to my son , Tim. They went to school together from nursery school through 8th grade. They attended each other’s birthday parties and sleepovers. Sean was a great kid. I know Tim will be welcoming him with open arms in heaven and heaven will never be the same again when they reunite! Sean will be united with his mom and dad again. May your good times with Sean and reminiscing about him keep his memory alive. May God grant you His peace, strength and faith at this difficult time. All my love! May your memories comfort you

I met Sean while working at Amazon in Burlington. Straight away I could see that he was a very special person. He was kind, funny, intelligent, and one heck of a talented artist. He, and I worked on a project together with the notion of doing many more. I'll miss you big man, you really helped make the long days at Amazon a bit shorter, and more tolerable. Below is a piece that I commissioned Sean to do for one of my clients. Needless to say he did a great job. My client was happy, I was happy, and we made some money too. RIP Sean, you're gone way too soon.

I remember this handsome face very well. I know you were welcomed into heaven by my beloved friends, Mary Kay and Mike. Oh, the joyful reunion. May God watch over the entire Sullivan/McGerry clan and guide you during this tragedy. With much love, Jeanne and Mike Montgomery

My heart goes out to the family and friends that loved him. Too young to leave but Gods mission for him is just beginning. He is now an angelic soldier in the Army of God.

I have the fondest memory of Sean as a preschooler. I carpooled with your mother to Thomas Holme for his co-op and kindergarten years. He was such a precious innocent likable child. I just loved him! My favorite memory is the day he told me his mom was waiting for him because she can’t wait till I get home. And there she was as always making sure she greeted him with that big smile of hers that assured him that she couldn’t wait until he got home me, just like he said! My heart goes out to you, his siblings, because I can only imagine your loss. The first thing I said when I heard this tragic news is that I’m glad Mary isn’t alive to see this day. You have my most sincere condolences. Betty Timoney
