Marion Elwood Knepper, of Haverford Pennsylvania, passed away August 27, 2022 at the age of 73. She will be deeply missed by her friends and family.
Marion, born Marion Virginia Hunter, graduated from Ursinus College class of 1971 and later studied Occupational Therapy at Jefferson University. After graduation, she served residents of Philadelphia as an occupational therapist until retirement. She raised three boys in Philadelphia and Bala Cynwyd with her first husband, Art Elwood, and had many good years with a family that remembers her as someone who was above all loving and kind.
Marion later married Ron Knepper, living together with her sons in Merion Station. She worked as an occupational therapist in Philadelphia, helping seniors maintain their health and independence. One of her joys was playing flute in several community bands, where she enjoyed the social aspect of making music with friends as much as the music itself. Ron and Marion had many enjoyable evenings talking, reading, and playing board games. Pasha, Marion’s beloved cat, was a fixture in their life together for many years.
In her later years, Marion most loved spending time with her family, and the highlight of her week was having her “grandbabies,” who called her “Mimi,” over to visit. She enjoyed doing the crossword puzzle, cryptogram, and jumble daily in the Philadelphia Inquirer, was an avid reader, and had a creative streak that led her to write children’s stories and poems. She played guitar and piano, and held occasional impromptu jam sessions with the grandchildren whenever the spirit moved her.
Following her wishes, Marion was cremated and will be interred next to her late husband, Ron Knepper, at Washington Crossing National Cemetery.
Beloved wife of the late Ronald Knepper. Loving mother of Garrett Richardson Elwood (Elizabeth Heath Tily), Ian Armstrong Elwood (Anne Julien Martin), and Hunter James Elwood (Colleen Young Elwood). Cherished grandmother of Brady Nash Elwood, Leo Wyatt Elwood, Bryn Elizabeth Elwood, Donald Francis Krotee, Mary Shannon Elwood, Heath Armstrong Elwood. She will be sadly missed but forever cherished by her stepchildren Gregory Darrel Knepper, Joel Cheston Knepper, and Wendy Knepper Hallett, and their spouses and children.
Interment: Washington Crossing National Cemetery, September 30, 2022 at 10:00AM.
