Margaret Ann Wood
Margaret Ann Wood, of Philadelphia, PA, passed away unexpectedly on August 21st, 2025 at River’s Edge Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center at the age of 77. Marge was born in South Philadelphia and spent most of her life in the Northeast section of the city. She worked for nearly 30 years in various roles at H.R. Edmunds Elementary School. Aside from being a doting mother and grandmother, her life’s work was dedicated to serving children in her community.
Following her retirement, Marge enjoyed spending time with her family, reading books, and seeing her friends at various local flea markets.
Mourning her passing are her husband, Robert Wood; her children: Roxanne D’Ambrose of Philadelphia, PA and George Wood (Beth) of Hainesport, NJ; grandchildren: Raegan and Madeline Wood; and numerous cousins and friends. Marge was preceded in death by her parents, George Scott and Madeline Jean Colvey and her beloved son-in-law, Douglas Paul D’Ambrose.
Family and friends will be received on Friday, September 19th at 11am at the Washington Crossing National Cemetery located at 830 Highland Road, Newtown, PA 18940. “Please arrive at the cemetery by 10:45 am.” Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Marge’s memory to the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia’s Reach Out and Read program or to the American Cancer Society.
