Joseph Nowicki

Joseph Nowicki, born August 12, 1943, passed away December 22, 2025. Pre deceased by his loving wife Marie, Joseph was the devoted father to Joann Polino (Louis Troy) and Michelle Flynn (James). He was the loving Pop Pop to Christopher (Melissa), Troy (Courtney), Caroline, Shane and Katie and the proud Pop Pop Joe to great grandchildren Emma Marie and Luca Joseph. Joseph was the sister to Mary Jane Tollok (the late Bill) and the late Josie (the late Ron). He leaves behind many nieces, nephews and cousins whom he loved dearly.
Joe was a lifelong resident of Mayfair who enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and bowling. He loved to talk about his hunting and fishing trips and the good times he had with his friends during them. He particularly enjoyed training his dogs Valentine, Talon and Trixie to be hunting dogs.
As much as he loved these things, nothing gave him as much joy as spending time with his family. Whether it was attending a hockey game, piano recital, soccer game or play performance, he was there. He especially enjoyed cruises, first with Marie and then in recent years with as many family members as wanted to come along.
Above all Joseph was an amazing person. He always had a kind, encouraging word and would never say no to someone who needed something. He was a proud Father Judge graduate and took the faith and values he learned to heart. His love and light will be missed by many.
Family and friends are invited to attend his viewing and funeral on Wednesday, December 31, 2025, in St. Timothy’s RC Church, 3001 Levick Street, Philadelphia PA 19149. There will be a viewing in the church from 9:00 am – 10:30 am. Joseph’s Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:30 am.  Interment to follow at Resurrection Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, kindly consider donations in Joseph’s memory to Father Judge High School, 3301 Solly Ave. Phila., PA 19136

A good friend who at deer camp was my roomie. All with a joke what with his quick wit and easy-going smile. Many years of good memories back to the old days in Wyomissing in Philly. He lived on the 6200 block on Mulberry St. And we lived on the 6200 of Charles St. He was a very good friend of my brother George Querns.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Joe’s family and friends. We always found Joe to be warm and welcoming, as well as fun to be around. I used to love that we would tease each other about which high school was better North or Judge, after we had enough laughs, we would team up against dad and tease him about Cardinal Dougherty. Thank you for the laughs Joe.

RIP Joe you will be missed at Sunday Morning Breakfast at Liberty Bell Diner, and going back to Breakfast at Tates with Marie & My Mother Joan. You always had great stories to tell about your daughters, & grandchildren. It was always fun talk about Phillies Flyers & Eagles.

I met Joe at the 6:30 Sunday Mass at St. Timothy's. I know he loved being there. He was also a big fan of the Liberty Bell Diner. He would sit at the counter, and the waitresses treated him like family. Sometimes I'd be sitting nearby, and we would strike up a conversation on various topics. I would always enjoy speaking with Joe. I am so sad to hear of his passing, My prayers and condolences go out to his family and friends. May he rest in peace.

  1. I have so many fond memories of him. One of my favorites was making turkey sandwiches for him on Thanksgiving night for his hunting trip. He was like a Dad to me and his memory will remain forever. I will miss him so.
