James M. Morris, a retired US Government executive, died in Philadelphia on July 7, 2018. He was the beloved husband of Maude Quarles-Keys, who preceded him in death. Jim resided for 50 years in Washington DC area, was employed as an Equal Opportunity Specialist and during his career worked for the Department of Treasury and Department of Labor, and also The Library of Congress.  He was son of the late David E and Anne F Morris and is survived by 5 brothers and one sister (Robert (Aileen), David (Antonia), John, Joseph (Jane), Daniel (Mary Anne), and Mary Alice Walsh (William).  Jim was born and raised in Philadelphia and was a 1960 graduate of St Joseph’s Prep and a 1964 graduate of St Joseph’s College.  Known for his irreverent wit and not so subtle political commentary, he had a unique command of the English language as few people could use eleemosynary in a sentence as adroitly as him. He enjoyed travel and developed an expertise in wine, most notably Italian red wines. He toured many of Italy’s wine regions, but was especially fond of Piedmont’s Barolo and Barbaresco. These regions produce world class wines that while somewhat austere in their youth become smooth, balanced and refined with age and are enjoyable for decades. Which fittingly is a description of Jim as well. A true gentleman, he will be missed by all who knew him.  Donations in Jim’s name can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association. The burial will be private and Jim will rest with his parents.
