Walt Winters, Jr.

Walter S. Winters, Jr. passed away June 1, 2019.  He was born September 13, 1928 and on February 8, 1957 married Dorothy.  They were married for 56 years.  Dorothy predeceased Walt on October 14, 2013.  He is survived by his daughter Cheryl and son Walter, III. He had a strong work ethic that he applied to everything he did.  Everyone benefitted from his strong work ethic.  There was never a project too big or too small.  He was a true renaissance man. He was a Korean War Veteran and would have returned to visit Korea, had he been in better health.  He was a member of the Korean War Veterans Association, Inc. and Veteran of Foreign Wars.Walt belonged to many Masonic organizations.  He was a member of Mount Pickering Lodge, Tall Cedars of Lebanon Mainline Forest 153. He held the post of Past District Deputy Grand Master Tall Cedars of District 10.  He had current membership status in the following organizations: Knights of the York Cross of Honour, The American Legion 602, The Lehigh Valley Joshua Association, Council of Anointed Kings, Commandery 55 of Knights Templar, Palestine Council 8, R. & S.M.M., Coatesville Royal Arch Chapter 267, Tall Cedars of Lebanon Spring City Forest 34. Walt also had an Amateur Radio License and insisted that his wife and children also obtain licenses. Walt was an avid boater and fisherman.  Throughout his lifetime he owned boats from 12 feet to 30 feet.  He applied his talents to building a Cedar Strip Canoe.  He made furniture and other wooden projects.  He also enjoyed making wine and brandy. Most importantly, he was a loving husband and father.  He was generous to a fault and a good friend to many. Family and friends are invited to gather, remember and celebrate Walt’s life on Friday June 7th at McCafferty Funeral & Cremation Inc. 6711 Frankford Ave. (between Unruh & Knorr Sts). You may visit and comfort the Winters family during the viewing from 9:30AM-11:00AM in the funeral home.
