Maria Esther Rodriguez, a wonderful mother, grandmother and wife, who resided in North Philadelphia, sadly passed on July 17, 2023, after battling an aggressive form of stomach cancer. Maria is survived by her parents Esther Gloria Rodriguez and Angel Luis Rodriguez, her two brothers Luis Angel Rodriguez and Fernando Rodriguez, her three children Ashley Ann Torres, Jasmine Ann Torres and Christopher Angel Torres and her life long partner and husband Victor Torres. Maria was born in the Far Rockaway section of Queens, New York. She was raised in the RedFern Projects. Maria began to venture off at a young age, traveling out of the state to make new friends and memories. No matter how far she went or how much fun she had, she always returned home to her family and friends at the RedFern Projects. In her late twenties she met a young man and little did she know her life was going to change forever. This man was named Victor Torres. They fell in love and moved to Philadelphia together. Not long after their relationship began Victor and Maria built their lives together, having three beautiful children and making Philadelphia their forever home. Maria also had the privilege of meeting her first two grandchildren. Maria took so much pride in the role she played in her loved ones lives. Maria was a devoted mother, grandmother and wife. To know Maria was to know what genuine love was. Her smile lit up a room and her laugh was contagious. Maria was truly loved by everyone around her and will truly be missed. Family and friends are invited to gather, remember and celebrate Maria’s life on Wednesday July 26th at McCafferty Funeral & Cremation Inc. 6711 Frankford Ave. Phila., PA 19135 (between Unruh & Knorr Sts.) You may visit and comfort Maria’s family during her viewing from 9:30AM-11:00AM. There will be a service, with eulogies in the funeral home at 11:00AM. Burial to follow in Greenwood Cemetery.
