Christina M. Kass

It is with a profound sadness that I share the passing of my beloved mother, Christina M. Kass
(Carlin) who suddenly had taken a turn for the worse and ultimately became too weak to continue
the fight against the multiple things that plagued her body, so God called her home @ 10:31pm
on the night of December 26, 2024 at the age of 63 years young. She was surrounded by
her family who she loved the most.
Christina was born on November 13, 1961 in Philadelphia to her Loving Mother the late, Joan M.
Shingle and her stepfather the late, Joseph Shingle who raised her as his own.
Christina, known to most as Chrissy, left behind her beloved fiancé, Joseph Hoffman who she
shared the last 30 years of her life with. She was previously married to Allan S. Kass who
predeceased her in death.
She also will be deeply missed by her only daughter,  Joan Carlin-Howard ( Derrick) who she
was a loving mother and best friend to.
Christina was also an amazing grandmother to all her grandchildren but will be mourned the
most by granddaughter,  Marissa McIlhenny ( Anthony Smith), and her bonus granddaughter,
Selena Acevedo.
Her granddaughter Ashley Mcilhenny,
her grandson, Ryan McIlhenny
( Kayla Lipoff) and her great grandson, Karter who affectionately called her GiGi.
And was also a lifelong friend to her grandchildren’s father Gregory McIlhenny Sr.

She is also survived by her only brother, Jason Shingle and his son.
Christina was a woman of immense humor who was a born caretaker who loved life. As a
bartender and business owner she was a people person, she loved music and loved to dance. She would always have a kind word, funny story or, listening ear to anyone who needed it.
Especially the friends of her daughter and grandchildren who she affectionately would refer to
as her adopted kids. Her passion for life and her unwavering spirit and unconditional love she
gave so freely made her a special person and to know her was to love her. She will be greatly
missed and will remain in our hearts forever. Heaven is lucky to have gained an angel like her.
Please come join us to say farewell to our “Favorite Girl” on Thursday, January 9th, from 1:30 – 3:00 pm at McCafferty Funeral & Cremation Inc. 6711 Frankford Ave. (between Unruh & Knorr sts) There will be a eulogy service starting at 3:00PM.  In lieu of flowers donations can be made to her Secured Go fund Me page in her name.

What can I say… my mom was my best friend and my worst enemy. She knew better than I know myself. We had our ups and downs but no matter what happened we both were there for each other no questions asked. We would argue and 5 mins later be laughing like nothing ever happened. And I miss her so bad right now my heart is so broken-I don’t ever think I’m gonna feel the same it’s like she took half my heart with her when she prematurely left this life. She had so many things she was battling in silence, was in so much pain but still put on a smile and kept it pushing. I will never let her memory fade. I love you mom to the moon and back and I’m thankful for the opportunity to be your child…for god to choose you as my mother. It’s been one hell of a ride but I would have changed it for the world. So I’m going to celebrate your life like you asked me to instead of mourning your death. ( I’m try cuz you know I’m a cry baby 😭) Rest in Peace I will see you on the only side. I still can’t believe you’re gone. 💔❤️🥺😣
